I am actually HOPING that we get bumped. Why you ask? well usually its only for one night. I get to enjoy their restaurants and whatever.... but the real gift is this: the 5 or 7 day voucher. (Depends on how much shit you give them) The voucher is good for a FREE 5 or 7 day trip to GP(hotel only) but must be used within a year. Since I visit this property every year... you bet your bottom i'm going to try soooo hard to get bumped! Maybe next year I can stay for THREE weeks instead of two if I have the voucher! : D

I see your point! I'm sure I could handle that if I was given a voucher! :)

We arrived on the first and left on the 8th. We talked to a lot of people that got bumped the week prior to our arrival. The resort was only at 75% capacity for our week and we did not see anyone getting bumped.

Of those that got bumped, most said they received five free nights on a voucher.

The staff said that they are not overbooked for the rest of the busy spring season.

I intend to write a brief trip report, soon. However, I will say that by the time that we left (our last 2-3 days) the resort was probably, at least, 50% spring break college-aged people from Canada and the UK. Therefore the tiki bar and the 60's bar turned into "techno" (thump-thump) music all night long and Jose recevied very little tip money.

Usually we go in mid-February, so we have not experienced this. Therefore, all the pool games becames "young studs" wanting to prove their abilities in the pool games. I will say that the entertainment staff has gotten much better, sexy-Sara is a hoot, personable and hot.

I AM very concerned about being bumped and do not want a voucher b/c I will not be able to make it back w/in the yr. I have been lurking these and trip advisor boards and have a plan..
I have contacted my local travel agent and GOGO vacations who they booked us with. I have 1800 numbers ready. All advice says if you DO NOT want to be bumped, do not allow them to escort you to the lounge for a "relaxing" drink..but stand your ground at the front desk. I also contacted the GP directly and rcvd my conf. #. I plan to call this week and get the ROOM NUMBER in addition.
We are first timers at the GP..we are looking forward, but NOT looking forward to a scene upon arrival...we really just want suits on and drinks in hand :))

Check-ins are done in the open bar area with a "relaxing" drink served all the time. That is not a sign of a bump coming. Stand your ground, but if you try to stay at the front desk, I'm afraid it would be worse. Just some friendly advice from a repeat guest at the GP. ENJOY!!:biggrinbandit:

I have had a direct email convo with a guy who just returned, he has posted a lengthy review on TripA...he adamantly said just stay put, be kind, but firm..
he and his party ended up having a wonderful time and after about a 30 minute issue, finally got the rooms they booked?! anyho..here's hoping! :biggrinbandit:
ps..he said they actually returned to the lobby for drinks and to watch the mayhem..all those who stood firm, got their rooms, the relaxed drinkers..gave in and got bumped..lol

We got bumped to the Great for 2 nights at the end of Feb. . . . They way they were doing the vouchers was U had to get bumped for your whole trip and they would give U the vouchers for a "new" trip. (some restrictions were in place) On another note, we had an upgraded room at the Great and when we got back to the Golden we were also upgrade to gold wristbands and top floor rooms !!! We had an unbelieveable trip and have already started to plan for next year. . . both parnassus hotels are just amazing. . . to say it was a trip of a lifetime would be an understatement.
