Staying over near the Hoteture for March.

Where are the best areas to go snorkeling, or is there any nearby places that has some sort of tour?

    Thanks

I don't think there is good snorkling around Cancun. However, if you drive out and hit the centoes it can be pretty good!

Or go to Isla Mujeres it's nice there for snork. Best deal is hop a catamaran at Blue Bay Hotel.

Correction: You can check out Punta Nizuc (sp?) right next to club med. I have seen folks snork there.. not sure how good it is.

Best place if you get out there is Cozumel. Unforgettable.

I 2nd Akumal. There is a lagoon next to Akumal that you just have to go to. Forgot its name.

On the way to Aku, check out the cenotes... cenote azul, have to, must, compelled to go.

That lagoon I mentioned is poor-man's Xelha, natural, natural, natural. It is beautiful, although the fish is not as plentiful as Xelha, but for natural beauty and being OFF the tourist track, cannot be beat.

Aku is a heaven, llaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiidddddd back.

Is it possible to take a bus down there? Don't really want to rent a car...

Cancun down to Maya Riviera is a very busy corridor. So you can easily find a bus going down from downtown Cancun.

The lagoon near Akumal is called Yal Ku. It's about 10-11 USD to get in.

Yep, get off the bus at the Westin Regina (Southern most stop in the Hotel zone), hike through the property to the beach and then South about 1/4 mile to the Point (it has a flashing beacon on it). Make sure you snorkel on the South side of the light, closest to Club Med. Take a backpack with your gear. This is FREE and right in Cancun. My son & I saw a sea turtle, small shark, lots of little fish, not bad for free and close to town.
