So at the last minute I bought a really cheap flight to Cancun and planned to stay with some family in their room at Grand Oasis Playa Hotel. It turns Grand Oasis Playa Hotel charges $130 for an extra guest which gives them the meals and unlimited drinks andf the right to int he room. My Question: Is it possible to sneak into this hotel without paying extra just to stay in the room with my family? I don't plan one eating any meals there or getting any drinks, if I did I'd happily pay for them seperatly.

Is this hotel pretty strict on only allowing those with bracelts onto there property? I'm afraid I might have to cancle my trip now that it looks like it would cost me $500 to stay in a room with my family that I thought would be able to do for free.

I dont know that hotel specifically, but all AI hotels have security at the door and they dont have much to do all day long except to look out for cases like this.

Even if you do manage to get into the room, dont expect to be able to come and go as you please, or visit any bars or restaurants on premises even if you intend to pay (AI resorts are not set up to take cash). As soon as someone spots you you'll be thrown out and possibly expected to pay or be handed over to the Police.

If you want to spend time with the family away from their hotel, then instead of cancelling your flight maybe look for a budget hotel to sleep and meet during the day outside the hotel.

Sorry to be harsh, but it's the reality. Mexico is like any other place in the World, hotels expect you to pay for your stay.

No I totally understand. I've been looking on web and see hostles are really cheap to stay at, would you have any recomendation of hostles that are located in safe areas?

Thanks for responding to my questions Steve!

I cant offer any recommendations from personal experience but there are plenty downtown. I believe some are as cheap as $13 USD a night for shared dorms.

A Google search gave me this site:

Cool, Thanks again. I'm going to go this route. I'm actually more excited for my trip now, sounds like it'll be more adventurous.

Yeah it will be much more fun if you're not holed up somewhere you're afraid to leave for fear of getting caught, and you'll see some 'Real Mexico' downtown too.

    Have a good trip.

chances are NO unless you have an extra wristband for your hotel that she can put on! If you notice people are leaving and still have theirs own, ask them if you can have theirs, we always find a few people to give up theirs. If all else fails, grease the guards with some pesos to let your hook up in!
