http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identity_card also, I may be in the minority here but I thought personal and national safety was a real issue.
I don't think that anybody smiles until they are through security and are walking through the jet-way (to the plane). Because at this point, you realize that you haven't been bumped from the flight.
I'm with you on this one, Michael. To me, personal and national security is a major issue and although maybe I'd get detained and asked some questions about my travel plans and may be inconvienenced, in the end it's all worth it to me if I'm safer for it.
I think that's easy to say when you're living in a place where people in certain nations don't hate you simple for the fact you live in that country. I'm curious if you've lived in the US since 9/11 when terrorism became a reality to so many here. I said it before and I'll say it again, I don't mind inconvienence for the sake of my safety. To say that I don't deserve that safety of liberty is simply ridiculous as far as I'm concerned. You're entitled to your opinion, Drewbert but remember it's just that...your opinion. Others may or may not share it and to each there own. There is no simple answer and I suspect no right or wrong answer here either. Try and not forget that. Disagreeing with you doesn't mean we aren't deserving of our freedoms. It just means we disagree with you. And last time I looked that was allowed. I hope you and family are safe during Dean and get out of it unscathed.
You're a bunch of pussies, really. They've scared you so bad (not the terrorists but your government) into giving up liberties and taking on ridiculous tasks for a false sense of security. Do you feel safer carrying your half tube of toothpaste onto the plane in a clear plastic bag? I tell you what, you look VERY FOOLISH letting them sucker you into such ridiculous "safety" measures. Queuing there with your effing shoes off. You should Baaaaaaaa!!! as you pass through. The difference in reaction of the Londoners to you lot speaks volumes.
Can't you have a civil conversation without name calling?? Apparently you can't. So I'm not going to even try and have one with you any longer. Despite that fact that you find it difficult to be polite and refrain from name calling, I still wish you and your family well through Dean. No disagreement on politics should get in the way of people on this board being concerned for others.
I don't mind giving a bit for a little security, but we've taken things a bit too far in this country. I have no problem spending a bit more time in line to get on a plane, but c'mon, giving the government more power and essentially negating a large portion of the Bill of Rights with the Patriot Act is taking things a bit too far. There has to be a better balance between securing our freedom and maintaining a good level of security. Personally, I think this whole "facial cues" thing is a waste of tax dollars. Just because I walk into an airport with a scowl on my face shouldn't give the government any right to simply pluck me out of a line and question me because I look "suspicious" to a so-called "expert."
I agree that the government has gone waaay to far and is totally out of line here. The courts have been smacking the current administration in the hind pocks for some of the rediculous stuff that Gonzolez has been promoting for years. Am I safer now than before 9/11.....I don't think so. More folks are pissed off at our government now than ever before. Many of them think I'm guilty by association simply because I'm an American.....they assume that I voted in the current administration and that I support the F'ed up policies of the current administration. I truly beleive the founder fathers are rolling over in their graves over what the current administration and their minyins are doing. I can't wait to get a 2nd passport in hopefully 2 years.....& get the freak out of this messed up, holy er than tho country!!! Off the soap box!!!LOL! Michelle
