Hi RiverGirl, can i ask where you got your internet phone from for the Vonage? My boss uses Vonage and is very keen for me to set it up, so that i have a US number for when calling important people from work (so they don't know i'm in Cancun basically), is this something i can do here? Sorry i have never used an internet phone before and am new to it.

Sam - Check out Vonage: www.vonage.com
When I signed up they required a US billing address (I think) for my credit card. And that billing address is where they mailed my Vonage router.

I had someone lug the router down here and just plugged it into my Telmex modem and it was working within a few minutes.

If you aren't in a situation to do the whole US billing address thing then hodamayo can help you I think. I have a few pals here who've gotten their Vonage setups through him.

Vonage is nice because as long as you have internet your phone works. You don't need the computer on. And you have a US number. I use it all the time to call the US and it helps me act like I'm there...caller ID just shows a Colorado number when I call someone. Without my Vonage line my business would suffer badly as most of my clients are in the US.
