We also just returned yesterday from TTR from a four night trip and my wife also got sick Sunday night and still is feeling the same way, kinda ruined the whole trip.
It sounds to me that it's a norovirus contamination. It spreads from person to person and if a person is ill and prepares food and/or liquids, it can be passed that way as well. Lysol, Clorox Wipes, and hand washing with antibacterial soaps will clear up the infection. Usually lasts anywhere from 24 hours- 5 days depending on your immune system and sanitation of infected areas. We will definitely be taking our precautions and taking some extra Vitamin C to build up our immune systems. Hoping everyone recovers safely and it's all passed by the time we arrive in 10 days!
Wish I knew this while I was there. We just returned yesterday, we were there from the 8th to the 12th and just saw this post. My wife was also feeling the same way but I thought it was just her, she got sick Sunday night after dinner and ruined our wedding anniversary getaway because she didn't want to go out in the heat and when she did she couldn't drink anything besides me going to the gift shop to buy her vitamin waters. I too would have put a complaint in. Guess I got to try with my travel agent. Thanks for the info
I was a bit sick while I was there in November but it didn't stop me much from getting out. Immodium was my friend and I just took it easy through the day. In any event, a lot of times it's just different nutrients and oils that we're not used to as well as not the top shelf alcohol. Definitely won't stop me from returning.
We just got home , I can say it was a party like no other but both Kim and I got sick . The sad part is what the post say is the truth about the management,
Researched Cancun Illness Just my two cents.... After a co-worker and I researched the CDC (Center for Disease Control) website, trip advisor, and various forums...it appears there is a virus circulating across Cancun. Several hotels have reported ill guests. The illness started late February/early March. The following resorts Grand Oasis Palm The Royal Cancun Cancun Palace Great Parnassus Gran Caribe Real and several others along hotel row have been listed. As with any Norovirus infection, it is important to follow proper hand washing techniques. Vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, and flu like symptoms will start immediately and last approximately 24 hours- 5 days depending on your immune system. It's extremely important to remain hydrated and to rest during this time. Also, remember to treat and sanitize any surfaces in which you have come into contact with. Here's hoping everyone that has been affected recovers soon. Also, remember your Vitamin C to boost your immune systems before heading to Cancun!! :icon_biggrin:
