We weren't there at the time but by reading the posts my money is on a food/drink contamination due to the symptoms. Mold usually causes respiratory issues not flu-like ones.

We were there last week and it seemed like everyone we knew had the old loose stool. My wife can literally eat raw chicken, hang with a bunch of lepers, and swig hep A and not get sick. She got sick. Our two friends who have been more than once and never got sick, got sick last week as well.

Hard to believe I didn't get sick, because I have a pretty weak stomach and Tums is always my friend.

We heard that it is not the norm, so that helps. Otherwise, I think it would make going back hard.

me and the wife both got sick. Worst case of butt flu I ever had. Last for a few days. Im guessing the food, but there was heavy flooding last week in cancun from the heavy rains, so could have been the water/ice. Wish I had better answers

Hotel management was on "Damage Control" while we were there. You cant acknowledge a food/drink issue at an all inclusive resort. It would be chaos. We noticed extra cleaning, chefs taking food temps on buffets, ect... after several guests expressed concerns. Unfortunately the customer service lady (Paulina) was new on the job and told us they knew they had a problem and was trying to fix it. After that, she was scolded by the manager of the hotel and my wife and I were seriously asked to leave the resort. THis is no imagination or tall tale, he literally forced my wife and myself out of the hotel. I understand contaminations happen, but how you handle them afterwards is what im big on, their compensation to us was a free antibiotic shot in the ass. Sorry, but that didn't work for me, this is where TTR lost my respect

Many of the people we met that were sick were repeats and said they have never been sick. Like I mentioned, my wife has a stomach of steel and she got sick. We hope it is just something going around and it gets sorted out. If it continues, it can't be good for business.

Maybe isn't only the resort.. Maybe Barcelo costa cancun and neighboor resort got the same problem ?

Maybe all the rain that fell put all the aqueduct in a bad condition and they got a sewer backup.

    We will never know!

If that were it, this would be a year round problem!
