Week toured GOV last year. It is definitely nicer as far as things go, mostly because everything we saw was just remodeled. The beach is beautiful compared to TTR as well, but the party was an entirely different -almost nonexistent in fact, during the day when we were there. Now granted that was before the changeover....
Wow! Thanks to everyone for the great info. We are not very high maintenance so as long as the resort is clean, the food good, and the alcohol plentiful it will meet our needs. We are more curious with the atmosphere. We plan to take another trip later this year to a nice low key resort.
Restling, Not to start or continue any arguments here, but I would like to point out one obvious detail that is lacking.....you have not stayed there. I can see how walking through the lobby and out to PattyO's can give that appearance. Its architecture is dated, but they have kept the hotel up. I don't think anyone on this board has every referred to TTR as a 5 Star resort, but it is a far cry from a Motel 6. Cheers! (and hopefully you will give TTR a try, I'll bet you will be a repeater!) Been to my share of 5 star and dealt with the stuff shirts that usually come with them. Give me the "Nice Shoes" and the party at TTR any day. added: Think the service is just as good if not better than some I have been to.
Just DO it!!! You'll have an AWESOME time!!! :huepfen021::huepfen021: And meet some Awesome New Friends!!! :aetsch022::aetsch022::aetsch022:
I think the Motel 6 comparison is where you lost a lot of people. Just to clarify we absolutely LOVE TTR and will go back many times in the future. Nothing beats the people, the atmosphere and the fun. But you are right, we considered GOV as we hoped to have our cake and eat it too, meaning we hoped GOV could deliver what we love about TTR and also add a nicer beach, better food and rooms. The reviews did not pan out that way so we decided to postpone those GOV plans. Maybe we will give it a shot in 2015. But since we want nicer with still some craziness thrown in we are trying Pearl in May. Note we have already booked TTR for October. I think a good analogy is TTR is our first love and you always love your first love, and maybe it isn't a bad thing to try something else just to see what it is like out there. Maybe it will make us love TTR even more. Maybe not. Regardless we will always love TTR for what it is.
My question is how can someone give an opinion about a resort that they have never been too??Can you answer this ?I have been to both TTR and gov,but those who haven't should not voice an opinion good or bad, maybe someone could agree or disagree ! If you have been to both then fine let er rip otherwise I believe you should give up the mighty guru Bs,my wife and I liked both resorts but prefer Gov
Be willing to bet you change your mind and book another Trip to TTR. We had our second trip planned before we even got home from the first one. Welcome to the party.
We weren't quite sure what to expect the first time we visited TTR two years ago. I had researched and researched about it and we finally decided to give it a try. We loved it and will be back in 20 days for our 18th anniversary trip! Was it the nicest place we have ever stayed? No, but it was nicer than we had expected after reading some of the reviews we did. Our room was cleaned very well everyday and there were constantly people running around the resort and beach area making sure things looked great. The food was better than we expected for an all inclusive and we really enjoyed it. But the carefree, friendly, party atmosphere is what we loved. We met lots of people and had an absolute blast....which is why we are coming back again and bringing friends along this time. We found the resort to really be whatever we wanted it to be. If we wanted quiet, we could have that on the beach or around the quiet pool, or in our room's jacuzzi. If we wanted loud and wild, there was plenty of that to get into, but it was never pushed in our face nor did we ever feel pressured to do anything we didnt want to. We found that most everyone there was like us, looking to have their own perfect vacation. The hot people, endless booze, and risque fun we had was just a bonus! -Mrs.
