Although we have never felt unsafe in Cancun, I do believe there are more reasons for concern now. We usually like a dinner out and a shopping trip, but may not do that this time. Safest place outside of the resort is the Boobs Cruise!

Cancun had 205 murders in 2017... more than double the previous year. So far most violence has been contained to the criminal aspect. But...FYI... If you need police assistance find a federal officer, not a local.

The big night clubs pay for “protection” so they don’t have the violence. I would still go but things are definitely changing.

205 murders is a month in Chicago, however, if 205 are published in Cancun, who knows how many there really are? Just don't do stupid shit and you should be fine.

Yep, drug cartels not the best business to be in right now. If you're not into that then it's as safe as it has ever been.

There's never been a single narco banner in Cancun as far as I know. Been a couple in PDC but only threatening the Police and Authorities.

Been here 13 almost 14 years. Perceived threat level to me as a foreigner living here, and you guys as tourists has not changed at all in all that time

We live in NY shit happens all the time has never stopped us from going to clubs or out and about in the city. Just beware of you surroundings and hit the floor if you hear fireworks. If you go to cocobongo just check out where the exits are before you get started drinking you will be fine.
