even from Ottawa a lot of the direct flight disappear off season and we have to go through Toronto/Montreal. Problem arises when those flights leaving Toronto are at 6 ot 7 in the morning. We like Cabo for oct/ Nov ,less chance of hurricanes, but getting there is a nightmare from the east.
We always did the package deals as well, but last 2 times we separated, with alpha rooms, FYI. Worked out lot more reasonable. In april 10 days,2600, usd.everything includes.
Apologies if this seems like I'm hijacking as our trip is not to TTR, but for our trip in September, it turned out the cost of booking each component separately would have been exactly the same as booking as a package thru any of several online travel agancies. Because of this, I felt better booking directly with the airline and resort.
We have found the packages to be the better deal the past two years. I always check for both, just to be sure.
We have always booked the package but do lots of comparing beforehand. The package has always been the better deal for us.
The return flight I'm looking at goes from Cancun to Toronto, Toronto to Halifax, and Halifax to Fredericton. I want to ask for a parachute for that Toronto to Halifax flight to hop off when we fly over NB! LMFAO!
We have done it both ways. The last three times it has been significantly cheaper to book separately..... but, it really depends on exactly when you are booking, what dates your are booking for, and how flexible you are with your flight times, etc. We always try to fly nonstop and arrive mid to late morning and leave Cancun early afternoon..... and flying on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursdays is much cheaper than Friday - Mondays. Shop around... it will pay off.
This is really the best advice...Expedia and Orbitz have always been our best deal from the Midwest. We always check all the sites, including Alpharooms...but the build your own packages from the Expedia or Orbitz have been cheaper by far. Connecting flights don't bother us at all, as long as our arrival time is early. We shop three different airports as well. We booked 12 days this May for less than we paid for 7 the last trip.
Exactly,, I have to add for Canadians avoid connecting/changing flights in the USA on the way back unless you have a least a 2 hour layover. You have to do custom immigration then recheck all your luggage,
