In the small print it says the hotel will collect a 76 dollar a night sanitation tax paid separately on Che k in or check out. Can anyone help explain? That would be another 300+ for 4 night stay.
I google and this is what I found... note it could be wrong ....but "It looks like there might be a bit of confusion here. The sanitation tax for hotels in Cancun is actually 76 pesos per night, not dollars. This fee is collected separately at check-in or check-out and is used for environmental protection and sanitation initiatives in the area"
Ok that would be quite a difference. Still surprised I didn’t hear about it until reading the fine print in their confirmation email.
They also put a couple of other add ons on your final bill but you can decline 1 or 2 of them at check out (charities and such) but you cannot decline the taxes. They are in Local currency so it’s really a couple of bucks for that one.
