We have been lucky to have been able to travel to Mexico quite a bit the past year and a half to Mexico. Wish it was alway to TTR. We have been in Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. I have rented vehicles and traveled. NEVER any issues. Left money and items out at the hotel (TTR) but always tip the maids. NEVER had missing items. Have had the same maid the past two times. I leave her notes in my broken Spanish and she treats us like Royalty! People always ask us about the DANGER. I explain that imagine your a Mexican with a dish and watched the headline news lead in from all the major cities in the US. You would think that all we do is shoot and kill one another. Here in South Florida you think we have flesh eating zombies. It is common sense there as it is here. There are things to avoid and trouble can be found anywhere. The resort and area is very safe.
Kevin and I had a drunk sexy pool day where we left ALL of our stuff out and somehow ended up back in our room passed out. Everything was at the front desk. I have never had an issue with crime, nor fights, nor any kind of drama beyond a drunk person needing to go back to their room to sleep who danced for too long at Pattyos and was not walking so good.
If you leave off the resort and go to Market 28 I advise ladys not to carry a purse, it looks a little crazy down there. I walked with some authority and purpose, guess it helps to be a 6'4 240 black guys.. lol.. but it did look scary in some areas.
That video was great, Steve. We have plenty of friends and family who believe all that BS and can't believe we take our kids to Mexico several times a year. We love the beach and the closest beach to Phoenix just happens to be about 50 miles south of the border...
Then quit leaving them on the chairs when you not around, lol Its very easy to grab the wrong towels,, crap there all the same color Just go get new ones they never charge you like they say they will,,
I agree with all the common sense ideas put forth here. I know that I will make sure the single ladies (or any of the married ones in our group if their husbands aren't around) always have someone to escort them to their rooms or even the bathroom at night around the resort and especially if you're in the party zone downtown. I have always felt very safe in Cancun and especially at TTR but it never hurts to err on the side of caution.
