Safe to Walk from TTR through the Cancun Hotel Zone?

If you LOVE hot yoga and are missing that feeling of being 30 minutes into a 90 minute Bikram practice, then I would suggest walking 3+ miles in Cancun ;-)

 

we run a 5K down the sidewalk towards the hotel zone on most mornings we are there and always feel completly safe......i'm not sure anywhere would be safe at 2am however

 

It is much better to take the bus or taxi for the simple reason ~ you will probably either be hungover, drunk, or planning to get drunk before you get back!!! It's part of staying at TTR.

Ive been to Cancun 10 times..never felt unsafe anywhere..Hotel Zone, Downtown, on excursions...Cancun is very safe if you compare it to a lot of neighborhoods and cities in the states...

 

want to feel Really un- safe? walk too far down the seven mile beach in Negril Jamaica! we walked the beach every am last Aug and by the time you now you went too far you are deep into the shlt where you Do Not Belong. we went too far exactly once.
I can't think of anywhere in Cancun I would think twice about walking with an expensive camera or jewelry.

 

I have never felt unsafe when walking in cancun! Day or night, sober or tipsy.... But if you know where you want to go, and not just out for a sightseeing walk, the bus system is easy and only like 8.5 pesos....

 

We have been going to Cancun for 14 years and have never felt unsafe or had any problems. We walked the beach each morning from TTR west towards downtown in just my thong and Glenn in his boardshorts and are always very safe. We have also walked the sidewalks down to the Centro (where the clubs and flea market is) and once again, always have felt safe. I will warn you, unless you do this before 9am or after 6pm, the heat will KICK YOUR ASS! if you get tied along the way, just jump on the bus, they are very easy to use and can actually be part of the entertainment on your vacation. We are also very comfortable walking the streets in the Hotel Zone after clubbing, 3am, and once again, never had a problem. The hotel zone is Mexico's bread & butter and it is heavly patrolled and kept safe so the tourists like us keep going back and spending our money.

 

I have been to Cancun numerous time. We have taken the bus or walked through town. As long as you are aware of your surroundings and don't do anything stupid you should be fine

 

Agree with Windham Couple about Seven Mile Beach !!! AS long as you stay North of Margaritaville its okay, any futher south and bad news. Had one drug dealer ask us for $$$, we told him we had left it in our room (the truth). "Oh, no problem Mon, I will just follow you back and get it then".

Biggest Problem is no one on ANY of the Jamaica forums warns you about how bad it really is!!! $$$ or politics or both I suppose. Of course, a firm "no" always works !!! Yeh, right !!!

 

LOL! "If safety is important"......Uh, one would think so all the time and everywhere.
