Personally I think they will come in quick with reno finalisation. After seeing what is possible after the devastation of the big hurricane (Wilma?) UNBELIEVABLE. Cancun was reinvented in a very short time considering the damage. ITs in the hotels best interest to get this job done asap
I wonder what the premier members rooms are going to be now the current 3100 block overlooking sexy pool. Which segment of the new room scheme do they fall under (Steve do you know). I know they are the renovated ones they have already started on 3101. We saw it last week when we were there and I took pictures of it. Quite nice
Premier rooms will be the pre-existing ones either side of the tower. Prepare to upgrade if you want a tower room.
year and half .. Well if a group normally goes over to TTR annually in late months or early months of the year and the last trip they made to TTR was 2015, then they will missed the 2016 trip, and might spend that time at another resort. That in itself could be a problem. If they want to come back to TTR in Nov / Dec/ 2017 or Jan/Feb/March 2018 and if there is any delay in construction and the resort is not available at 100 % , then they might put off another year and revisit where they went in 2016 ... that can be a long time between trips to TTR. I am not sure if the urge to revisit TTR can really last that long..even with only a small increase in price... of course, this is only my humble opinion...
True on a personal level but in that case the hotel wont be "sending customers someplace" else for 18 months. I might come across as being pedantic but I've seen it before where someone reads a post in isolation of the whole picture and then goes and posts on Facebook something like "I just read on Cancuncare that the hotel will be closed for 18 months" and all hell breaks loose
Well this forum has been a great help in trying to understand what exactly is going to happen in the next 2 years. Your connections to the Cancun area and insights with the TTR transformation, and updates by all the CCC members will be a great help for me and others in deciding what comes next... Thanks Steve and to all that help with trip updates...
Had to go back and revisit this thread and see how far estimates were off. 15-20% has turned into a verified 60% and is much more in line with what the rumor mill expected as the resort has to cover this $40+M investment. Still have to see what non-member pricing is as well.
None of my comments above referred to membership prices. Hotel hasn't even closed yet, let alone reopened. Revisit this thread in a year.
After receiving the email from Premier, we called customer service. The prices are correct in the member email. Example increases: We recently went in April 2016 (low season) for $148 per night per couple for 14 nights totaling $2072.00 total for room and all inclusive. The new rate for low season will be $236.00 per night per couple for 14 nights total equals $3304.00. They had projected the cost prior to renovation to be low season $171.00 per couple per night and high season $218.00 starting in 2018. The difference between 2016 and the new prices for the renovated TTR will be about a 37% increase. Without the renovations (mute point) the increase would have been about 27%. Either way there will be members and non members that no longer will be able to afford to go to TTR or reduce their days and trips per year. Expect a potential atmosphere change. Some members will not be able to afford the higher prices. TTR will likely still book but it will be with people that have income levels that can absorb the increase. The target age group of 30 to 45 will adjust but some repeat (older) couples with level income will be challenged.
