You're welcome to disagree but I still don't know a single hotel that presently is serious competition to TTR, or one that even aspires to be. That applies both post and pre renovation. I agree the people are what makes TTR, but that following wont choose a destination like GP (or Sens) as a new long term home. If that were the case we would have seen it happening long before now. It would look like GP and Sens. An extra couple of hundred TTR refugees spread over the next 9 months isn't going to change that. I guarantee 90% of people trying new places will come back and say, it was ok but nothing like the vibe at TTR. And when TTR reopens they will all come flooding back.
It was actually Donald that commented, not me I would expect that the news just hasn't yet filtered down to the reps you spoke to. When it does they'll offer you a choice of full refund (including flights) or ask you to choose an alternative hotel.
If they can afford to, and if the initial reports indicate the old vibe is still there. No plethora of sexy topless ladies, no fun pool entertainment, and no fun loving, easy to talk to fellow guests in the pool area and it's game over. A year and a half is also an eternity to send customers someplace else and hope they come back. I sincerely am hoping you are right with everything Steve, but they are meddling with a very successful yet delicate business model. The old saying "Don't try and reinvent the wheel" comes to mind here.
To be fair, the expanse of this project leaves quite a few of us thinking that 1 year is a pipe dream. I hope it gets done in that time frame ( we aren't getting any younger), but as stated before tear downs are a lot more involved than new construction. How long did it take to build the little Starbucks across the street?:icon_question:
We can all play 'SimHotel' but it's really not helpful when people post their own predictions as if it is official. Sure we can speculate, but we should either refer to the officially released shutdown period or qualify it as a personal opinion. Actual construction? About 3 weeks. There was a period of several months between construction of the shell and fitting it out when nothing was going on.
Starbucks across the street???? Been a while apparently I am in... That aside, proposed schedules are the only thing we can go on so it is truly a wait n see how it pans out...fingers, toes and eyes crossed that everything goes as planned and we are back for Labour Day 2017
I agree I am more worried that the vibe of the hotel will be lost with fancy rooms that noone spends any time in while at Temptations now. The new rooms are gorgeous and very sexy but costly and will all know cost gets passed down to us. I only hope that when it is all done that friends can still afford and will come there again.
