I have witnessed the Mexican get it done attitude before... 800 lbs needs to be moved 100yrds. We need to wait for a forklift. Mexican official asks what we are waiting on... 2 min later he comes back with 8 guys that can pick up and cart system 100yrds. No safety shoes and by the time I was back from a cig, the body scanner was exaclty in the installation location. I didn't get to stay in cancun that night. In a US airport there would be 5 people around watching me talk to riggers about how to safely move the system and then they take a break. I move the system in the 45 min that it takes for their 15 min break. They dont have breaks for the bullshit and workers comp is "dont get hurt".
Finally, 2 highly respected voices of reason in this sea of madness. And a thread that actually contains proper logic. Steve and CWL have expressed and posted most of my thoughts since this firestorm started. Props to you both. As has been said....2 words: Don Diego They don't call him Mr Cancun for nothing. He can get things done in record time. The Man is one of the First Fathers of Cancun! The family has the connections to make this a seamless challenge, and has proven it in the past. Hell, they could be nearing arguably 'The Royal family of Cancun' status. The project will have the cache value of the family name and tradespeople will be motivated to get the job done properly, on time. Most of them personally know the family And TTR is damn near a heritage property in a "tourism" City, so a civic push of support will nurture the expediency. I have faith this will be a grand success and there will be pricing levels to accomodate all loyal TTR disciples and very few will be priced out.
WE GOT HOME TONIGHT AND HAD A VIEW OF NEW CONCEPT ROOM 5 STAR ALL THE WAY:mnm: WE ALL KNOW WE SPEND LITTLE TIME IN OUR ROOMS BUT IF THEY ARE DOING THE ROOMS THE REST WILL BE :lotsofmichaelfs:GREAT ALSO:aktion060: FINALLY OFFICIAL!!! GLENN
Will the existing rooms that are being refurbished be a total remodel? New everything, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC, or just a facellift remodel? If it is a total gut job, and the pricing increases by 10-15%, I think this is a very good thing. I hope that they can get some of their long time employees back when they reopen.
Has any thought been put into how the 9 story structure will effect the sunlight hours in the pool? Right now, with a 3 story structure, I have to chase the sun to a small area of the pool by late afternoon. I am just curious if a much larger structure will result in less sun hours on the pool. We are very happy to be visiting the TTR this coming June before the big finale. I am wondering if the staff will start to decrease as the date of Sept 25 gets closer. Will the staff be jumping at a new job leaving less staff at TTR. I know they all work so hard already. Will the resort continue to make an effort to restock premium booze? Do you see where I am going here....will everything begin to be scaled back due to expected closure? I hope not - we expect to go Full Throttle in June! XO
Regarding sun in the pool. When we were there last week I noticed the sun did not track over the main building, it sets over the existing buildings they're not touching. At no time last week did the sun move over the area where the new building would be. Now we didn't wander down as far as far as the equipment rental area but I think it will be ok.
Any information on the concept of the resort, is it staying the same? As far as the entertainment, day time activities, night time themes and atmosphere?
I was actually wondering why you have been so quiet, and I figured there was some reasoning behind it. I also 100% agree with Steve and CWL. I tried not to get involved in too much speculation(which was very driven on the complete unknown variable of pricing). I did write up one long post in this thread http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/tem...ant-compete-5-star-market-even-upgrade-3.html. Which was just trying to explain my personal demographic, and how this will probably be a good thing. And INHO there is definitely some overlap with regard to what Steve posted. I understand there is still much doubt, nervousness, and risk. But I hope this information helps everyone move into the weekend with less concerns, so we can do what we do best and PARTY!
