I found the site where you get 4 days 5 nites or something for like $399 (PER COUPLE TOTAL!) - but that's the 'timeshare thing' - and crap that would be so worth it - but what kills us is the damn airfare! Cannot get airfare ANYTIME for the month of April or May for less than like $800 or $900 or $1k for both of us .... so it's not like it's much cheaper than what we just paid .. But I was totally thinking of you and how you said you were going to come back in April ..... !!! YOU GO GIRL!
Well, I'll let you know how the sky auction goes - I haven't put in for my dates yet. I have 48 more hours, and I'm trying to talk some friends into going. It includes airfare and everything. You have to read ALL the print before you bid though. I'm paying: Taxes on the trip - $295 per person Surcharge for going in April (as opposed to off season)- $95 pp Processing Fee - $20 Leaving from Boston - $20 pp Leaving on a Weekend - $80 pp It seems like a lot of fees, but I got the auction for 8 days, 7 nights for $500 per person. So when you add all those together, it's about $1100 per person. There is also a fee if you are traveling solo (this is normal, I paid it on orbitzsucks too). It's $275, since they are only getting one person worth of money for the room. You just need to read all the money things and add it up before you bid - so you know how much to bid. I saw a hotel room that was going for $1 a day - but the fees were $195 a day. Ridiculous.
I keep telling Chris that but she says I'll have to sleep by the pool.... but hell I'm there most of the time anyway..... :mnm: Jamie
I must warn you. I had a bad experience with skyauction. Don't do the pay now confirm your exact dates later. When I went to confirm my dates later it took them two weeks to get back to me and this was with me reaching out to them frequently via email. They have no phone number that I know of. Then when they finally got back to me they said sold out. Of course I saw availability on every other site I looked at. So the lesson learned is don't wait on your dates if you don't have flexibility and don't book your flights until you get the confirm from them which may be a while after you request them. I have the dates before I even bid on it (based on school vacation) - so they won't charge me unless they have my dates. And the flights are included with this one - so I don't know if that will make the whole thing scarier *or* make it easier to cancel. I'll let you know how it works out!
