If nothing else, this thread has been a great education on the technical workings of domestic appliances
Ali&Andrew, how could you forget the smoking!!!! Lol And patient zero probably groped someone wife somewhere along the way, as well.
I have a fair amount of knowledge of AC systems, I get a lecture, or rather, sales pitch, twice a year from the service technician who deals with my home system. I've also been enough times to TTR to know the systems differ between the blocks. I've found the 3000 block rooms have improved a lot over the years, I think that block has closed (recycle) systems where the air is cycled between the intake inside the door, and the register up by the ceiling. The only way you get damp air is by leaving the door or window open. The filters in the intake are rather primitive and need cleaning regularly but if you call and ask they are there within the hour. The rooms over by the quiet pool area (1000 block's) seem to have an open system where the intake is outside and is always trying to cool warm damp air to the limits of its capacity. These are the rooms I've found condensation on the floor tiles, damp in the closet and bedsheets. I also had the TTR bug, or something like it as reported in Donald's other post, but it manifested itself at home between my April and May trips so I cant be sure. I was in the 3000 block in April, where the AC worked very well with no damp issues, and the 1000 block in May, where the AC would spray cool moist air into the room then freeze up sucking in damp air. I only turned on the AC when I was out, and turned it off when I came in the room. That is what helped enormously with the cough
