I was shocked and saddened to hear this. I've been trying to catch up with him for the last couple of years and always thought "well maybe next time I'll catch him." I was really going to go after it in January when I'd be spending some serious time back in the DC area. Now..... Just another reminder to not put off till tomorrow because sometimes tomorrow never comes. Bob you were a man's man. You put your life out there as a volunteer fireman and a policeman. You were a true friend to everyone you met. Your smile was always ear to ear and you taught us to let our troubles go and enjoy life to the fullest. You always gave and never asked in return. If you ever considered me a friend then I feel honored. You will be missed but never forgotten. We’ll host a few for you in May. Tracy, nothing can truly express our sorrow we feel for you. Know that we will always consider you family if you ever need anything and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you deal with this. Philly Steve, please let us know of any arrangements that are made so we might be able to participate. Thanks for remembering us and letting us know. Jamie and Chris
Jaime, not a problem. As soon as I get the arrangement details I will post them on here for you guys to try to be able to make it. Bob had JUST moved back up here to Philly and was pretty anxious to start running again at the firehouse. It was just last week after a fundraiser that he stopped by to say hey. I actually asked him if he still talked to anyone from the party or from his Cancun trips, and believe it or not he said that he had just talked to you out of the blue not that long ago, and couldn't wait to meet back up to catch up on things. We're really gonna miss the Big Guy around here. As to what happened, I honestly don't know yet, but I do know he had some health problems a short while back that really put things into perspective for him. I'm glad he had so many friends that cared so deeply for him. He was the kinda huy that would give you the shirt off his back. If anyone needs my number or anything else, please feel free to PM me and I'll gladly help.
never met him but I remember him on the boards and in the pics, and in a lot of peoples trip reports! Anytime we lose a member of the board its a very sad day! Prayers to him and his family!
I did not have the opportunity to meet up with him, and I am sure I missed out on meeting a great guy. Our condolences to his family and friends.
It is always stunning to me how just swapping a few posts on an online forum can connect you personally with someone you've never met or for that matter even actually heard their voice. Yet, if something bad happens to that person, you feel as bad (or frequently worse) as if they were your best, most nearby pal. Go figure. I guess that's why we are humans. That an opposable thumbs. I'm stunned to hear this news, and very, very sad. He and I swapped a few posts last year on some topic or another, and he PM'd me a couple of times on a few things as well. He seemed like a very kind person. I really enjoyed hearing from him and wish I could have met him in person. The world is a quite a bit emptier today. Tracey, my heartfelt condolences on your terrible loss. And, my condolences as well to those on this board who had the pleasure of meeting him in person, partying with him in Mexico and were face to face friends with him.
What a shock this is. We met Cheeze and Tracey at BBG a few years back. We hung out with them for the whole trip, and what a trip it was!! Tracey, I know how you are feeling now. Please know that you are in our thoughts, and our hearts truly go out to you. Big Daddy will be missed.
I am totally shocked...I had the privilege of hanging out with Cheeze in Cancun on a couple occasions and can tell you that he was one of the funniest people I have ever met and a class act to boot. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Tracy and his family.
Terrible news indeed, a great shock and a sad loss. I had the pleasure of meeting "Cheez" several times in Cancun and will always remember him for being the "life and soul of the party". My deepest sympathies go out to Tracey and family.
I am so sorry to hear this. Cheeze was a blast to be around. Tracey, Kristy and I will be thinking of you during this time. James and Kristy
As everyone else has said this is a total shock! Cheeze was a great man and he will be missed! Sherrill and I had the honor and pleasure to meet Bob and Tracy on several occasions. I think the one we'll always remember most was the 1st Annual Isla Invasion May 2005 that Cheeze and Lowrider put on. I still have the shirt hanging up in my closet. Tracey our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
