Overall we had a very good time at GOV. We didn't experience any of the problems or issues mentioned on Trip Advisor. Check-in was a breeze but we received express check-in with our trip package. We were escorted to the VIP area and seated at a desk to check-in. From arriving at the hotel we had our room keys in about 10 mins but our luggage took about 30 mins to be delivered to the room. We requested a room with a balcony at check-in and were moved the next day which didn't take long at all. We paid for the upgrade, got new keys and settled in our new room in less than 30 mins. The desk clerk did an awesome job checking us in on arrival and assisting us with switching rooms. She took us up to the room for us to take a look before we decided to upgrade and she checked if everything worked; AC, lights and TV ect. There was a wide variety of people and ages staying at the resort from 20 something's to 80. There wasn't much of a "Temptation" party atmosphere during the day, this isn't a complaint just an observation. Topless factor, not much, just 3 - 4 max per day tanning and of this, maybe 1 or 2 willing to walk around or go into the pool topless. My wife in the past has gone topless on numerous vacations and is comfortable, but was not this time. We observed many people taking pictures of the few women that were topless. This is not cool! Signage should be posted at the pool stating topless is allowed, along with wording "no photos". The food and service was good except for breakfast that was a hit or miss depending on the service, some days very attentive and other days no service and being seated at a dirty unset table. It was funny to watch people seated after you, the waiter pass your table and pour them coffee and water and then by your table again and serve another table. The next day we would get the great service and the tables around us not so much but this is Mexico so we take those types of things in stride. We did get a visit from security to turn off our music in the room at 12:15 am (just after midnight) from my booming 2 inch external ipad speaker ha ha. Again too funny because at that time all you could hear was the thump thump from the Coyotes bar. I guess my little speaker was drowning out their music. If you are looking for more of a party atmosphere it isn't there yet or wasn't during my visit but this may change if the clientele changes. Overall we had a great time and vacation. We would return if the party theme improves and the price is right. I don't mind travelling with my parents or grand parents but not at resort where you want to let loose and party day and night and seek out debauchery:ladiesman1::ladiesman1:. Can't say enough about the bartenders always quick and friendly. Cheers!
Thank so much for the review. I really hope that the management does the right thing and prohibits cameras in the topless-optional areas. Not having these restrictions defeats the purpose of having topless-sunbathing in the first place. We're kind of bummed because my wife was looking forward to feeling comfortable being topless without all the extra BS of having cameras around. Here's to hoping the next month of reviews change our minds.
Good to have reports to read as GOV continues to transform into the atmosphere they're working on creating. It's not going to be an overnight process, and I don't believe the goal is to be another Temptation. We're looking forward to a future visit, but we'll wait to book until things are closer to where they want to be.
Great trip report....Thanks for sharing. One question though, the entertainment throughout the day what was it like? What kind of games or activities did they have?
