Restaurant attire

We try and eat at a different restaurant every night and rotate through them all. I wear pants, or at least nice shorts and a button down shirt just to compliment Suzy who's always looking her best in a sexy dress. I already married up, don't need to highlight it any more by dressing down next to her!

As far as the attire, Elyse is pretty much all done up and in a dress. I normally wear a long sleeve button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, or a collared short sleeve. There have been times that I have worn a nice fitting solid color v-neck tee, or plain black tee, but they are nice looking, and not like a causal tee shirt I would wear during the day. Sometimes I wear dress shorts, sometimes I wear linen pants. If I wear shorts, I will normally have on nice sneakers(not athletic sneakers, but causal shoes). If I wear linen pants, I wear flip flips. (I am not bringing work dress shoes on vacation, period). Also, I am generally wearing a nice watch. Pairing some of these things together makes them appropriate, but I would never wear the tee shirt, shorts, and flip flops together. If you have sense of style you know what's what. Now I have seen many others not dressed up at all. I question why they are allowed in, but I couldn't really care less. I guess my initial reaction is "O look this dude didn't have to get dressed, but I did, wtf!" But then I just look across the table and see Elyse all dressed up, so I would feel pretty stupid if we wasn't on the same page as her.

As far as the behavior, loudness, and rowdiness of others. I have seen this go many ways as well, and I have been in many different situations. Group dinners can get the loudest, especially if everyone is doing shots. I think this is fine, and why we are all there. I am going to have fun at dinner. Sometimes this gets louder then it probably should, but you can usually figure out if it is bothering others or not. I might say "sorry if we are a little loud, it's our last dinner together", and most of the times people say "We don't care, go for it". I have been out at times and the entire restaurant is loud and having fun. Other times(especially in the Asian) is it is bit quieter, and it is a dinner with Elyse and I. She does curse often, and I just try to reminder her to keep it down, and I am sure she does the same to me on nights I may have crushed it at the pool all day The key is just to be able to assess your environment and adjust accordingly. Respect for others is key.

I also do not believe it is out of line for another table to politely say "Hey guys, you are a bit loud. Could you please keep it down a bit". No problems at all there, just be nice about it and I am sure people will try to be more respectful and quiet down. We both paid to be there, and I am in know way going to push my agenda on you, the same way you shouldn't push yours on me. The people that have problems are the rude stick in the mud people that won't say or do anything, but just sit there and pout and hate on you. I don't get that behavior. If I am not being super observant reading every facial expression you are making, then how will I ever know you aren't happy. I believe those types of people cause their own problems.

Reasonable is the key. My wife dresses for dinner and for our trip I brought one pair of white linen slacks and took two shirts for dinner. A long sleeve...cool patterned collared shirt and a NEW black vneck T. Paired that with some bluefin sandals/flops and got in no questions in all the restaurants. The food is pretty good too. Tip..when you are having lunch at the island on the Boobs Cruise..drink a beer and not the water.
