There used to be a little open air street cafe call El Veracruzano. Don't know whether it's still there but it was good.

La Habichuela has already been mentioned and, in my opinion, it's fabulous and worth the money. But nevermind what I think. Travel & Leisure (Latin American edition?? It was in Spanish, that's all I know) listed La Habichuela as one of the 23 Best Restaurants in Mexico. It was the only one to make the list from Cancun. (this was in there Sept 2008 issue.)

I also enjoy Pescadito's (tiny little place for fish on Yaxchilan), Iki Resto-Bar, Labna (next to La Habichuela), La Creperia (downtown on Coba, near Walmart), L'Escargot (small, fabulous, French restaurant downtown on Calle Pina in SM-25), Los Arcos, El Asador, Xtabentun, and eating at the stands in El Parque de Las Palapas.

You may want to consider JC Capitan's. From Cancun Menus:

"JC Capitan - Located on the southern part of the island, JC Capitan is a pleasant escape from the commercialism of Cancun. Situated in a virtually undeveloped part of the lagoon, providing a secluded setting for a delicious lunch or dinner. The palapa-topped building is on the water and the pier extends from the restaurant allowing for two private dining areas for 6-8 people. Open air, beautiful sunsets, live music and tiki lights after dark – oh so tropical and romantic!"

The same owners also have a small location downtown at Market 23. Can't remember the name but it is on the corner opposite the Market area and the "out" street to Ave Tulum.

El Pescadors Downtown on the street off Tulum just down from the Burger King. We had Lobster there, you got two tails, almost a full pound for less than 25 USD. I know they have a web site but I cant find it right now. It has a menu page with all the prices. If you can find it.

We just tried Tadaima Sushi & Thai and really liked it a lot (thanks to whomever recommended it). We will go back very soon and will bring friends!

Located on the corner of Coba and Yaxchilan in SM22, across from the IMSS. It's in the rounded part of the corner, so you have to be coming from Coba to get to it. There's limited parking right in front. Hours are 2 pm to 1 am.

The decor is nice, open and airy but with a section that has a/c. They have a loft with a palapa roof. It reminds me of Marakame, lots of strands of lights around and couches for lounging. Very laid back.

They have live music on Wednesday and Friday nights. The guy playing tonight was a moderately famous Cuban musician (hubby knew of him).

We both got Pad Thai and it was the best we've had since leaving the states. We will go back soon.
