I made a reservation last night for room & flight through the link Steve provides. It seems as if you are booking a room and flight package it redirects to Reservhotel.com. I received an email from them this morning stating my reservation was flagged as “client possibly using VPN” and now they are requiring me to fill out a credit card authorization form and want me to send them a picture of the front and back of my credit card along with a picture of my ID. They say it’s for the airfare and if they don’t receive the info by 6pm the flight may be cancelled due to non-payment. Has anyone had this happen before? Seems like a dangerous game to send all that information via email. I have booked through this link before on previous trips with no issue. It seems easy to just say I will not provide the info but don’t want the flight or price to change while sorting it out. Any advice would be appreciated.
When did you originally book this? The flight should have already been booked when you paid. If it was recent, doesn't seem like a big deal to do it again in a way thats not sketchy or compromises your identity and credit card. If it doesn't sound right, it probably isn't. It sounds strange to me, especially coming from a travel website.
I made the reservation last night. I was charged for the travel insurance and received a reservation confirmation email for the hotel portion. The flight hasn’t been charged to my card yet (supposedly why they need all the verification info).
Emailing credit card info is not a secure way to share your banking info. Even if this isn’t an intentional phishing scam, you don’t email credit card information. That’s just against basic security protocols for any business process. I wouldn’t even think of doing that.
Call the resort directly from the number on the web page . I do think I have seen that Reservhotel.com before on one of our reservations at one point. Here are the number from one of my emails from them.
