Here's a question about the planned "2016" renovations.... Anyone have any idea at all about When in 2016? Spring? Fall? summer? Any particular month being nosed about?
Remember before you shit your pants.. this post was started in 2014... Nobody knows anything more now than they did back then on the planned start date. My only advise at this point would not to buy non-refundable stuff more than 8 months out from when you plan to go. If you can book the hotel now with minimal to no cancelation fees, then you might go ahead. If you are buying non-refundable air tickets, I would wait till you get closer. For example, I booked a couple of referral weeks with the hotel that do not have to be paid for until 30 days before I go in May and then I am waiting on air till after January 1st just to be sure. Just my 2 cents... Jamie
I hear ya Jamie, just wanting to nail down the plans so that the vacation can be requested from Stacia's upline dictatorship.
When we were there in July, "renovations" had begun. They were simply putting updated, stylish lamps in all of the rooms on the 1st floor of the building furthest away, by the quiet pool.
We are booked already for June 2016. The last information that we received was that the renovation/remodel will take place in phases and probably will not start until summer 2016. We usually wait until January to look for flights. No matter what, we will be going to Mexico in June, and I hope it's Temptation, but I will gladly move my party to Desire if I need to!!! Dawn
My plan for 2016 is to hold off as long as possible before booking. I can wait until around August 2016 before I have to book flights, so hopefully work will be underway or more known about when it is starting by that point. If it looks like there's major construction going to be underway for my usual dates in Nov/Dec, I'll book a vacation elsewhere for 2016.
April 2012 we had cancelled a trip to TTR Cancun because it was supposed to be under construction.( ended going any way last minute) They have been talking about this for years, and it never happens. With the major push after Viva was trying to steal its customers. After that collapsed, the reno got scaled back. I do believe a "" Facelift '' is under way , but that is a recurring thing for most resorts. Looking forward to the Sports pool conversion into a Giant Hot Tub
I agree. I think a makeover is in the works and there are "plans" for further expansion, but once GOV changed their business model, TTR Management no longer feels the need to spend so much money so quickly. Of course, this is just my assumption, but I think blocks will be closed here and there, but I don't think those grand ideas they were supposedly going to put forth will happen in the near future.
