Thank you again everyone (including T.J.). RiverGirl, when you say get several copies of my birth certificate apostilled, does that mean I need several copies of the original birth certificate or just several copies of the Apostille (if I understand correctly, the Apostille is a certificate of authentication)?
Well what I did was to get several original birth certificates and had each of them apostilled. You could also get one original apostilled and then get certified copies of it made, but the apostilles are easier to get than certified copies... I got certified copies from a notario here and it cost some money ($25 USD or so I think). While Colorado will apostille docs for just a couple of dollars.
Thanks for the info RiverGirl. I'm actually not a Colorado native, so I have to get my docs from Illinois (Chicago native) and California, where I most recently lived before moving to Colorado. California is not so cheap, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I've already contacted attorney Mauricio, and he's fantastic. Thanks everyone for your patience with all my questions.
