I suppose almost 5 yrs living here is not a bad record without major incident but today, we finally got unlucky. Went for lunch with friends for an hour and a half and when we got back we'd been burgled. They took all 3 laptops, Jannets jewellery including her wedding and engagment ring, a digital camera, my cellphone and some English cash, turned the bedrooms upside down. Strangely they left my UK credit cards in the same wallet as the cash they took and also they left my digicam that was actually attached to one of the laptops they stole. Fortunately, I have borrowed a desktop from same friends (although it's in Spanish!) so I'm still online, have already changed all passwords and secured all important webstuff. As a result I'm not gonna be able to fix up avatars and maybe not so present on the board for a while, while we sort this shit out. I need to get a new PC and a PC with an English keyboard and Operating System is near on impossible to find here. Please keep your PM`s and emails to a minimum for a while. Everyone should realise that this has nothing to do with the reports of violence in Mexico, it was just an opportunist burglary in an upmarket downtown neighbourhood that can happen anywhere.
That's just terrible...I'm assuming everything was insured, but the wedding and engagement rings hold a sentimental value that cannot be replaced. I'm so sorry for your loss, Steve & Jannet. Thank goodness for your good friends. Hugs, Janice P.S. If anybody needs help with an avatar while Steve is less available, I can walk you through it...I don't have admin rights to do it for you, but I'm a pretty good teacher and I know my way around the board here...just PM me if you're having trouble...
Sorry to hear about that Steve. Such shame people need to do that. Seems like its something quite common in Cancun. Not matter of if but a matter of when it will happen to you. Hopefully insurance covers it. Nick and Renee
sorry to hear that steve your exactly right it can happen absoloutely anywhere on sunday afternoon after kancun kimmie and major tom left the house they stopped into a local dillards for thirty minutes - when they came back out to the car - everything they had inside the car was stolen our thoughts are with you guys rob and tonya
Ditto the thoughts above. I hope Dani isn't too upset by this. Or you and Jannet, for that matter. That sort of thing leaves a terrible feeling in your gut. Hugs to all three of you! Virtual for now, real ones in May! George (and Debbie)
Steve, I was so bummed when I read your post. I hope the family is doing okay. Having your home robbed is such a violation and can be so traumatizing. Our homes are supposed to be our safe havens. Just know that all of us on the board have you and your family in our thoughts. Next time Talina and I are in Cancun, the first six rounds are on us. Ronald
