I totally agree. We plan are going to Chichen Itza without a tour. We are doing our excursions on our second week after TTR though, don't want to miss any of the resort fun.
We were thinking about doing the Chichen Itza tour as well, wanted to do a private tour, well if people are around from the 5-16 then may still be able to do it for a good price
USA Transfers website has tours. One of the tours is a private tour to the pyramids. We did that tour and it was wonderful, they spend as much time a you want at each site.
Chicken Itza We will be there from March 9th to the 19th, so perhaps that is something we can look at doing while we are all there Maybe 12th,13th or 14th would be good days if its offered on one of those days.
We've been to Cancun / Mayan Riviera 7 times. Our top 2 excursions are: 1)Isla Mujeres - you can do catamaran booze cruises to get over to the island, or better yet, one of Steve's AMAZING boob's cruises (the very best way to get to the island!), or if you get sea sick or it is to choppy to sail, you can take a ferry over to the island for $15 (sans boobs, booze, Chinos, Omar).....there are tequileria's, fresh taco stands, golf cart rentals, lots of knick knach shopping....the southern tip of the island and eastern side is breath taking...take your telephoto zoom with you! 2)Xel'Ha - now...this is a snorkler's dream....beautiful inlet with all kinds of fish - there is a lot to do here - trust me - google xel ha and you will see. Even if you're not a great swimmer, they will give you floatation vests to snorkel about. This place is mind blowing. In our own travel experience only Australia compares to this. We're going to go this year and try out our new underwater digital camera - that is if I have any memory left on the card after I break the cam in at the Sexy Pool! I'd actually also throw in spending some time on 5th Ave in Playa Del Carmen - vibrant night life, good food, live music, shops, great little tequila stores....lots of silver....this is a really fun and safe area - quite touristy but enjoyable. Xcaret is also beautiful - maybe not so much fun as it is interesting...great for the little explorers and family trips. Have fun!!!!
Thanks everyone, some great idea's there. One we are going to do for sure is the Boob Cruise if one gets planned and I (male) really wants to see the Mayan Ruins, and I thnk we're gonna limit the outings to a couple so we dont miss out on to much TTR time.
I'm heading this week, Boobs Cruise is a must. I've done the booze cruise and talked to a lot of people who have gone to the new one...seems pretty awesome. Also, if you want night life and have never been to Cancun, I'm going to recommend Coco Bongo...quite the show! And the service is good if you tip.
We have done the Selvatica Ziplinig thru the jungle three times and absolutely love it. Last year we did the trip that has the razor two person dune buggies and it was a blast. You do about 10 zip lines, then they have a rope course you can do followed by a "parachute jump" out of the canopy. The Boobs Cruise is also a must do. We went last year and plan to do it again every year. Our suggestion when you get to the island is to skip the bar and just wander around the little shops for a while.
Definitely must do Steve's booze cruise!! have gone twice now, it is so much fun!! the water is beautiful, the snorkeling is great and you will get to see isla mujeres and go shopping and have lunch and play some great games, its must and the staff is great!!
Sorry not read every post on this thread so apologies if this question has been answered but would anyone advise which excursions are not reccommended and are they all safe, organised and with tour guides?
