I did it by refusing to pay 300% tax for a pack of cigarettes. They shoud be $1.75 a pack not $6.00. I hang out with smokers alot. Second hand smoke is free. People are so nice. Several ask if it is ok to smoke and my reply is, please do and blow the smoke my way.
i am very proud of my wife. she stopped 14 years ago. it was a lot of herd times but well worth it. a lot of help from friends helps also.
reading peoples stories really does help. I can really see how easy it would be to just say oh f.... it and start during a bad day. but i dont want to give up. I have been eating pretty much what ever fit into my mouth. but i resolved to stop that today, and go back to the gym. so two weeks now and counting. thanks all
rdubnpk I smoked for thirty years and was smoking three packs a day when I quit. I started out on Zyban (sp) which is supposed to take away the craving and makes cigarettes taste like what doggy poop must taste like. It also caused insomnia. Finally, I just said to heck with the stuff and cold turkeyed. I have been off them for 14 years and will NEVER smoke another one. I do, though, like to wander through the cloud of smoke cretaed when someone exhales around me. It never really leaves you.
I want to quit at some point, but I don't know if I'm ready yet. I don't know.....I think I kinda like it too much! Plus, it's kinda hard not to light up when almost everyone you know smokes. I know it's bad, but I'm way too attached to my Marb Lights at the moment.......hopefully I'll get over that.:aktion014:
not sure you will ever get over it..............even this past weekend i still wanted one (over a year removed) but i just cant anymore. kind of like i want to go back an relive certain highlights in my life but just cant do it i dont regret smoking just like i dont regret those 6 years of banging chicks with wreckless abandon before i was married but i just say that part of my life is over now and smile and move on the best rob "In the shade below the eaves Think I could chain smoke anything It ain't awful hard to tell What it's like, my little hell" from the song not only numb by the gin blossoms
We both quit 7 days ago, cold turkey after trying just about everything else.....it's going surprisingly well. They say it takes 2 weeks to break a habit, we're halfway there and cruising along nicely........wish us luck
Keep going and the gym will help remove toxins from your body. Get your heart in great shape and then you won't want to smoke.
it takes 6 weeks to change a habit but you will always want a smoke. Good luc. It can be done. 3 years now. An odd benefit that I had was. I was always up at 5 AM. Had a smoke or 2 and did whatever. Now when I can, I sleep in till 7 or 8.
:umbrella1:well ok!! three weeks, and it is not bad at all!!! ya!! i hardly think about them at all now. i still love my food but not near as much chowing down. I think this is very doable. I should be pretty much over it by sept. good thing too. have a great day everyone!!
