Oh we knocked. And someone answered, naked. He could see the looks on our faces (we were very new to this world at this point) and said oh sorry you can leave if you want. I look at jen and am like honey? They gives me a shrug that kind of implied she was uncomfortable but wanted to play it cool so I was like oh no we were fine. The host got us a drink. Meanwhile moaning in the background, lady presenting herself on the edge of the jacuzzi waiting for (I assume) our host to return ha. Grab our drink. Stand against the wall, shrug and smile at each other like holy shit this is scary but kind of fun. Then make eye contact as our host engages with his partner on the edge of the jacuzzi... one step back, two steps back. Grab the door handle turn and RUN lol we had fun. Newbies we WERE ha
I get it, and understand why it makes sense from a staffing standpoint. The Quiet Pool Bar was a nice little before and after dinner tradition that was just an enjoyable and relaxing part of the evening routine. Steve is probably right though...part of the reason it was relaxing is that there seemed to only be two or three couples there at a time. It was a nice place to chat with the not-very-busy bartender! Lobby Bar...here we come!!
Fully agree Steve, our experience also. Lobby bar is not a substitute for the casual relaxed pool bar (ok close at 9pm). Mmmm, should we be getting concerned, Jacuzzi closed 7pm, Pool bar closed 7pm, no sports pool at night after bash, yellow cards and lots of doggy chairs and tables in bash , not to mention that the buffet was pretty poor on our last visit.... is this going the right way ??... perhaps a wider debate ?? Hardly hedonistic..............
No, I don't think we should be getting concerned. I hate to keep coming over as some kind of defender, I do try to be balanced and haven't been shy at expressing criticism before where I've felt it's due. However, I really do think some of the changes are exaggerated in terms of negatively impacting the overall experience. It's different yeah, but not necessarily worse. Just different. - Jacuzzi (hot tub) closes at 7pm yeah, but there wasn't a Jacuzzi before unless you count the tiny Premier thing that most weren't allowed in and those that were never went to. Now there are two nice ones, including the Sky Bar. - Pool bar closing at 7pm. Hasn't it always closed at that time? I might be wrong, and closing times might be seasonal due to hours of sunlight but I don't remember it staying open very late before. - No sports pool after Bash. Sports pool no longer exists, Bash closes when everyone is done. Even when the Sports Pool was open 24hrs it was for about 3yrs of the 16yrs I have been going, few people used it and security were pretty strict on what they would allow in any case. - Yellow cards. Lasted about 3 weeks and no longer used. I thought it was a good idea as a non confrontational way of asking people to tolerate their 'outside the rules' behaviour. - Dodgy chairs and tables in Bash. Lots of replacements have been made since the original furnishings. Much better now than on opening. - Buffet poor. Actually I always thought it wasn't that great even before Reno, but there are more places to eat than pre-reno now.
Accept your observations Steve and hope to be experiencing the updates in the next few weeks. Glad to here the yellow cards have disappeared, blimey even I got one in November and the Jacuzzi was so tame , you'd have more fun in Butlin's !!. Buffet's are buffet's but the selection in November was smaller and poorer but yes, some of the other restaurant's have improved (personal opion but not all). Again I'm not having a "bash" just really getting concerned that some of the fun things we really went to TTR for and enjoyed, seem to be disappearing. Perhaps we'll get a chance to knock this around on a Boobs Cruise in July and commiserate with you over Forest's season........
Actually @Steve it was just prior to Christmas, that the bikini Bar started closing at 7 pm Before that it was always open until 11:00 (pre &post Reno) to service Bella Vista diners mainly. But it was a great spot to gather around to meet up with friends, or linger at post dinner or kill time waiting for a table. Guests with rooms on the quiet side of TTR are kinda inconvenienced with it closed at 7. PITA to go to SCORE to get room drinks. Quiet Pool Bar had multi-purposes for people, and it is missed by many long-time guests. Completely agree about buffet. Always thought it lacking and only ever ate there 3 or 4 times when forced. Agree about Sports Pool. It was only the last few years of TTR 1.0 that it was open 24hrs. ...and really it wasn't used by many. We are late night people and the most I ever seen in there at any one time is maybe 20 people. However I would love to see a weekly late night Foam Party like that legendary one that we had on the very last night before TTR shutdown. It started at 3 am. ..remember! ? Now that was a Party!! And management should consider making that a regular weekly event. 5 trips (30+ nights) since opening day and the only thing I know about yellow cards is what I have read on here. Have never heard about them or seen one while at Mecca. Bash closes up about 3 or 4 and PatyO's didn't close till 6. I usually closed it. Just Johnny and Me, as we watched thru the sliding doors into the lobby, early morning departing guests checking-out. Bash furniture has improved and has increased the functionality of the space. But the raised stage is still a problem! Has been since opening night. And Bash still has some other negative aspects. For us, we would trade PatyO's for Bash in a heartbeat. Maybe they can find that old PatyO's sign and rebuild the beloved bar. LoL
My mistake then. Sorry Sir. Yes you are right....Sexy Pool bar always closed at 7. I assumed reference was to Quiet Pool bar as it was always open in the evening. And I read in the statement 'casual relaxed pool bar'....of which I don't conjure up the Sexy Pool Bar. But maybe others do.
Correct about "pool bar" being one at Quiet Pool. Met so many people there in our 1st hours of arriving at TTR (very 1st visit), we were so long there we nearly missed dinner... it holds a very special TTR memory for going past 7pm enjoying meeting great people in relaxed surroundings....... Having re-read the thread, I'm sure the main aim is to continue the fun/naughty theme , hopefully its received as efforts to keep the positive and fun we've all enjoyed and NOT to just hang on to "Old TTR"
