Book your tours at the resort. There are guys at the towel hut that can take care of any tour you want. Our first trip we booked scuba diving thru our expedia rep big mistake. If you book at resort all training is at resort and boat is right out front no traveling to marina. You can decide what tour you want same day no pre booking. If you use the travel agents you usually have to plan your whole week in advance. We tip the waiter $5 each meal, after the first tip find the same waiter for the next meal and after a couple times he will meet you at the door. Tip the bar staff $1-$5 a few times a day. $5 on the bed each day will get you some neat towel animals and a couple extra beers in your fridge. Take bubba mugs for your drinks they are larger and the bar staff will gladly fill them. Saves some waiting the bar glasses are pretty small.
We tip the security guys so they are not douches when the ladies want a little play time without interruption.
deff do a day trip over ti isla mujeres your liver will thank you, go with a few other friends it's about $17 USD for the ferry, $42-$45 for a golf cart for the day and just go explore the island. hit the drive through packy stop at a random bar/restaurant hit the south end for a drink with a view and then to north beach for a swim, then take a walk in the shopping area before leaving the island
