So it's really going to be along the lines of boxing as far as the blood factor goes.. I can handle that. Guess I'm gonna go!
you're very lucky....you're getting to see two of the most anticipated rematches of the year that night. First is Rich Franklin vs Anderson Silva. Silva crushed Rich in their last fight, breaking his nose, and knocking him out 3 minutes into the first round. He lieks to be on the ground, but also has great standup. Rich, on the other hand is a wreslter who knows how to submit people, and knows how to knock people out.....you will probably see a little blood in this one, especially if it goes past the first round, remember title fights are 5 rounds so theres plenty of time then you have Tito Ortiz vs Rashad Evans. These guys just fought at the last event actually, and it went to a draw. Tito would have won the fight, but he comitted a foul, got a point deducted from the judges scorecards and that eventually cost him the win. These two are both great wrestlers with suspect stand up game. Tito likes to slam people down, and ground and pound them. Rashad on the other hand.....hes just a wrestler. He has only submitted two men in his career, and knocked out two....the other 6 fights have gone to the judges.....their first fight was decent, i expect the same out of this one any other questions about the UFC, and mixed martial arts in general, let me know.....ill let you know about the other fights on the card as they come available
OMG Fletch...you really know your stuff. So I take it this is a huge thing this mixed martial arts fighing from a popularity stand point? Is it more popular than boxing these days?
not even close to boxing......boxing you stand there and punch eachother in the face for 12 rounds.....mixed martial arts is just that, mixed. Theres no such WRESTLING moves as you would see in pro wrestling, a few slams which translates into a ground game. Kicks are legal to any part of the body while standing, kicks when your opponent is on the ground are only legal to the legs. If this were PRIDE fighting, kicks are legal anywhere, but the UFC has strict rules against kicks to the head on the ground
absolutely, its been big for a while, but now with worldwide exposure, it has for sure surpassed boxing in popularity
Ok they punch...ie Boxing, they wrestle...ie wrestling.. They kick as in kick boxing, and they mostly do the ju jitsu moves too do they not? Oh and they all have nasty cauliflower earz!! ewwww
