Oh Canada and Oh by the way USA both skated past their fiirst round opponents. Wonder if they will meet in the finals?
Here, in Quebec, Canadien is our NHL hockey team. So, I think for a large part of Us, if we have a choice, we prefer the Stanley Cup instead of Gold Olympic Medal because we could encourage them in our city for several games and go party just after the victory :lotsofmichaelfs: But, during the Olympics, the NHL takes a break. So, a gold medal is an other good reason to have fun, specialy If we won against the USA, our prefered neigbour :headbanger:
I think each has their own level of importance. I think to me, the ultimate prize is winning a gold medal. Representing your country far outweighs representing just one team and it's fans. Of course, if you play hockey, you dream of winning Lord Stanley and nothing else. I guess when the opportunity presents itself to play for your country in the Olympics, that's about the only time you'll really know what matters most. For me though, I say the gold!
Speaking of the NHL. Rumour in Winnipeg today is that Gary (The Rat) Bettman was in Winnipeg yesterday to look at our arena and that he has a press conference scheduled for the day after the Olympics to announce the Thrashers are moving to Winnipeg. I'll believe it when I see it, but at least there is talk..........
