I start tanning about 6 weeks before and use a bronzer. My husband does not pre-tan but he keeps on sunscreen with an spf of 50 or higher while in Cancun.
I was wearing 60 FPS, at gov.. and I have a small sun burn. So I think those FPS it's just a gammic. !! =) I put 30 on, never get any problem.. so now it's 15. If I burn I'll bring my 30 just in case DON'T forget to remove your sunglasses sometime. Always funny to look at someone racoon tan =D
I like the racoon tan it lets my coworkers know I've been someplace hot when I get back Plus I have blue eyes so I'm extremely sun sensitive, I can never not have shades on or I'm all squinty
My eyes are blue as well.. If I look in the direction of the sun no sunglasses I cry So yeah.. I'm ready to drink :ernaehrung005: Ready to party artytime: But I'm not rady to leave, I'm not pact !! :banghead:
We always tan prior to vacation! I will always end up a little pink anyway even after pre tanning and using sunscreen, but its not nearly as bad as it would be if I didnt pre tan at all.
Wow, my hubby and I have to use 60 SPF all over our bodies all day long or we fry even with pre-tanning all summer and 2 months of tanning beds.
Are you actually Canadians lol I think it's all genetics and skin tones for the most part. I tend to tan quite easily even though I'm quite pale skinned. I atribute it to lving in Singapore for 2 years when I was a child but there's no science to that answer.
Dr Oz says that anything above 30 is useless does not work.. We are pre-tanning right now for the last few weeks, but might buy the dark cream as I am more red colour then tanned right now, 3 weeks to go.
SPF is easily explained thusly: Mathematically, the SPF is calculated from measured data as where is the solar irradiance spectrum, the erythemal action spectrum, and the monochromatic protection factor, all functions of the wavelength . The MPF is roughly the inverse of the transmittance at a given wavelength. The above means that the SPF is not simply the inverse of the transmittance in the UV-B region. If that were true, then applying two layers of SPF 5 sunscreen would be equivalent to SPF 25 (5 times 5). The actual combined SPF is always lower than the square of the single-layer SPF. If you understand that please line up for your science degree to the right lol We apply a Banana Boat Sport SPF 60 several times during the day. The sport does mean it doesn't wash off as quickly but it also has more wax in it so it tends to clog the pores and I (Andrew) do tend to get blemishes on my back when we return. I also use a spray on my noggin as my hair is fine (it's not thinning dammit!!!) and I hate hats. Oh, that brand offers UVA and UVB protection. UVB is what burns you but UVA is what ages you and causes melanoma so whatever you choose you may want to ensure it protects from UVA as well, many don't I've read. Ali is very good at looking after me and telling me when I'm turning pink. VERY good She'll also tell complete strangers. Don't get me started on her and visible tags lol
I find the sun in Cancun is not as strong as in my country of origin (El Salvador), and after 15 years of surfing my skin got pretty resistant to the sun. However after 13 long winters here in Canada, my skin has become a lot more sensitive, and this is the only reason I pre-tan now. The first 3 days are the most important ones not to receive too much sun, of course it depends on each person skin type.
