Probiotics are your friend before/during. If you get it coming on, go buy some cipro just down the road at the pharmacy at first sign.
In order to avoid getting anything intestinally-negative while in Mexico my standard/typical practice is to, after everything solid I put in my mouth goes in, a swallow of liquor follows.
I have been to Mexico many times and usually have this issue. I tried all kinds of things and finally have realized it is the alcohol that gets me (too much booze for so many days). I now eat whatever at the resort and don't worry about it (I used to be really careful and I still got sick). I take pepto before I go and Imodium when I have any issues and it clears it right up, but it also dehydrates me and makes me dizzy .
We started this a couple of trips ago as we always have had tummy issues down there for years. It really seems to work for us. Also stay hydrated with water and electrolytes
Brits hit the nail right on the head Ciprol (spelling?) we gave a couple of pill to another couple that we met at the pool. They said in no time they were back in the game and very thankful also I believe anyone can take them and it only takes one dose.
I've been reading alot on this forum for tips about our our upcoming trip. We've never been to Temptation and are looking forward to meeting folks in a few days! My question is about the ice at the resort. Is it purified? We will use bottled water for brushing teeth and mainly drink beer and bottled drinks. The wife might want a frozen drink, but is afraid of the ice. Thanks.
The ice is perfectly fine..never had a problem with it. I drink the water from the faucet in the room sometimes and brush my teeth with it also. never once a problem.also my drink is always a vodka/soda with lots of ice and again.never had a issue
. Yep, all the water that goes into the drinks is from the same filtration system which is on-resort. Mind you, I've never actually touched said filtration device myself, but have been told by staff members at an executive level that there is one that shields the resort guests from the public Cancun water supply which carries the revenge. I tend to agree with those above who relate that the problem isn't so much the "water" at Temptation, it's the huge shift in alcohol consumption rate when you get down there, as well as dietary differences, i.e. richer food in many cases. Think on it this way.... how often, at home, do you get up on a Monday morning, and by Noon have buzz, and keep right on drinking until many hours later, sometimes until 2:00 to 4:00 a.m.? And then yu get up on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday AND Friday and do it again? You don't, that's right. Well, at TTR that's what we all do. Ya think your belly might be slightly miffed with this behavior, to say nothing of your liver? LOL! I do have this cool T-shirt I got on a trip to St. Thomas that spells it out perfectly: THE LIVER IS EVIL AND MUST BE PUNISHED. Ha!
Ha Ha, I like the shirt. Thanks for the replies. Look forward to seeing some of you guys on the 16th-19th.
