It's a bullshit charge to keep people from sellng their weeks but it is s bullshit charge that is not in the contract and therefore not enforcable unless they want to outright lie. And we all know they are not above that. Jamie[/quote] Amen, to that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Terry
They have tried to add that on to reservations that I have made for friends and family that have stayed at TTR when we are not with them, but I have never had anyone actually pay it. I have looked thru my contract and cannot find any mention of the $49, but not real sure if my guests are really supposed to be getting the gold bands that they always end up with. The $49 fee cost me about an hour on the phone with one of the Premier contract specialists before he gave in. I am not sure if he actually found our contract or not, but he did agree to drop the $49 fee. The moral of this story is to not give in.
same thing here Bart, nothing in my contract...just hate to have to waste time "trying" to talk to them.....but I am not going to have anyone pay that!!
The "Gift Certificate" fee - (no there is not an actual certificate... like most things in Mexico the hotel never got around to making one) is not in a lot of contracts...but the RCI/Premier office will almost always try to charge it. It was something that the hotel owners came up with along the way to try to make a bit extra (the fee goes straight to the hotel) on top of everything else. This is an easy one to get out of. If they try to force the issue of not paying it, insist that you've been down before and it wasn't like that. They won't press the issue...and there's a few reasons why. 1) It could mean you wont take the breakfast tour... Before the program changed, Premier sold most of the guests of members, simply based on the fact their friends owned (in fact, sales reps would fight over who took tours of guests that were friends of members). Show them you're really angry, and they'll take the fee off quickly. 2) As a guest of a Premier Member, you could burn the timeshare group on property, telling the story of the hidden charge. Not that their own members aren't already burning the timeshare group on property, but if you go telling new members who just bought how you were treated poorly and charged the $49 as guests of members, the new member could cancel and get a full refund (you can cancel if within five days of purchase). Its not a risk they will take, trust us. You see...they'll always see if they can get it out of you, but stand up for yourself and they'll back down pretty quick to make sure they dont hurt their own business for the week.
