My point exactly, they just don't seem to add what had great value to the package to make it worth our while - I can buy top shelf alcohol easily for less than $500 per year, offer me something else I can't get ...

Plus they try to screw you out of it when they have their money. My membership has been on hold since Oct. because I was a month behind on a payment. I even offered to payoff the whole balance and they said it was turned over to a collection agency in the USA who has yet to contact us and has no record of my account or who I am.

my wife and I go atleast once a year, sometimes twice, and never, have we payed more than 600.00$ a person . this is for a week, including our flight from Toronto! We've been to there sales pitch, and left holding our sides laughing at how ridiculous it is!!! yes there are a few up grades but NOTHING worth the cost difference! We have been to countless other other properties for their VIP status vacations but keep coming back to TTR ! Nothing beats the party or the people! Think long and hard when you pay extra for DIFFERENT TOWELS!!come on!!!seriously WTF!

Every membership is different and some aspects are worth more to some people than others. We do not pay an annual membership and our membership fee was low enough that it pays for itself within two years not counting privileges or benes. We take into account discounts at their resorts, yacht rental... Those costs that we have already spent that are now discounted. For some people it is not a good idea while for others it work.

I completely agree with you Sultryfox! They try to add-on all these extra's, but they are mostly useless. The only thing that is worthwhile is the better alcohol and pool side service. To bad the better alcohol is ONLY at the pool. A real butler to get you drinks and/or actual room service would be amazing. Even better wine at the restaurants would be a nice start.

well my family bought into RCI/ premier back when the resort was blue bay and they use a points system and can be used at resorts all over the place and if you travel alot it's really not that bad.

You might want to get all your facts straight before you voice your opinion. Every contract is different so you can't judge by someone's bad experience.
We pay no yearly maintenance fee that you describe. Further more our trip in Feb cost me $52.00 & my wife $52.00. That is including airfare. That is up from $49.00 in October, so you are correct the prices are increasing. We talked to several couples about the cost of their trip & the average for 7 days was around $2500.00 depending on where you were traveling from. Now that is peak season I know but that is when we like to go. Off season the prices are cheaper.
Until you actually sit in on a presentation to see what is offered & how much it costs, I don't think you have enough information to promote the membership or bash it. It has worked for us & I think if you ask our friends that we have met @ TTR & helped make their vacations better with our perks, they will tell you the same.
Now some of you will respond that you have heard the sales pitch. Well it doesn't fit everyone. Some people can negioate better than others. Some like it & buy. The membership is different now than it was even 3 years ago. That's why we go see the Premier people every trip to stay on top of things to maximize our membership. That hour I spend with them has saved us a lot of money over the years.
Okay I'm done ranting but I thought everone should hear the flip side of the coin :)

We bought in when it was Blue Bay and at that time we could use our points for Airfare and it was cheap, but they quickly changed that. We have tried to negotiate with them over the years, but once they had all of our money they did not want to hear what we had to say. This year to go for the dates we want as members it would cost us $500 more just for the hotel than if we went on to a travel website and booked the exact same room. The only difference is the few extra perks that we typically don't use since our friends are not members. I guess we could always hang out in the members area by ourselves and drink the top shelf drinks. I know that the program works for some, but it hasn't worked for us in a long while and now they won't even respond to my emails. We like going so we are just booking through the web and will go in and see if we can get a face to face with them this ayear again. It is my opinion and I tell as many people as I can to be very careful when considering becoming a member since sometimes the deal may seem better than it really is.

How long ago did you purchase? Also is Airfare somehow included in your Premier package? I'm confused how the Airfare portion could be reduced all the way down to $52.

*I'm not calling you a liar, I'm very interested in how you're able to pull this off. I would definitely jump on a deal like that.
