We bought in October for more or less the same reason. Plus, we figured that the rates will go up even more after the renovation so it seemed like a logical investment.
We bought last May, with the idea that we would be going once annually. We are already being proven wrong and can't make a trip this year so I'm feeling like my money is just going in the fire. Unfortunately, I don't think we got a good enough deal to be able to sell it to someone else. Oh well!

Same with us and Cheaptickets and/or Alpharooms. I wouldn't use the referral part in the sales pitch as a plus. Has never been cheaper for us.
Yeah, it won't be cheaper. You just have to value the perks. Which we did last year - but we didn't think ahead enough to what if we DON'T make it EVERY year. Are we getting our money's worth? I would have to say no. Especially since now I'm panicked that if something goes wrong with reno, we will have paid for absolutely nothing. As non-Mexican citizens (not that I know if Mexican citizens would fare any better), I'd have to venture to guess that we just say good bye to our money. It has not been a good year for us "real estate" wise so I'm just a negative nelly about it, sorry! Jealous of all the people going to TTR each day! Wish I could pass on our membership lol
For the price we paid last year, can't see how it could be any cheaper. We are going back on Sept 30th 2015.
