When I saw the forum topic, I had to open it to make sure that no one was looking for me since we were just there. lol
Congratulations! That's wonderful news! I don't want to be the bringer of gloom and doom--I just think you should think about a few things.... Even though your tickets aren't refundable, you may be able to change the flight dates for an extra fee. It might be worth the extra $200-300 to postpone the trip until after the baby's born (IF you think you'll be able to get babysitting). I tried vactioning while pregnant with my first husband (you can already see where this is going!) and it wasn't good at all because a) the unusual food made me sick even 2nd trimester b) I was exhausted and in bed by 9, then awake all morning when he slept in from partying all night. We hardly saw each other, and when we did, I was pissy because he got to have all the fun without me c) I love drunk people when I'm one of them, but my tolerance for a bunch of drunk people when I couldn't have any was pretty low. Add in that I felt like a whale, and hot girls in bathing suits would have had me bawling the whole time! If your wife has had her heart set on a wild party vacation, she might not be able to help being disappointed chilling by the quiet pool or watching other people be drunk for a week. I just think you guys should weigh the pros and cons honestly before you decide.
Don't take Orbitz's word for anything. The flight may be non-refundable with Orbitz, contact the airline directly. The airline may be able to offer you an alternative such as a credit. This happened to me once(ok, not the pregnant part), Orbitz said the flight was non-refundable. I called the airline and got a credit I could use within a year.
Key is to have a hubby that will not ditch you! If you trust that he will be by your siding enjoying vacation WITH YOU and not off enjoying it WITHOUT you, then you guys should do ok.
I think were going to end up not going...Were going to try to get a doctors note saying she can't fly and try to get our money back from continental directly through them...hopefully it works. Were looking at next year around same time. With him being a teacher and a coach spring break makes the most sense. thanks to everyone for the advice!!
Probably a good call. Kristin was pregnant just once while we were on vacation in Cancun (April '08). Of all the trips, she had the least amount of fun on that one. Here is a picture of her bringing back drinks from the bar, hers is plain Coke. :icon_confused:
Well if its just the flight that's non-refundable, why don't you see if you can move it (push it back to post pregnancy) or book at a different resort that will be more about relaxing and romance. Lord knows she is going to need both of those plus set her up for a massage...a prego girl deserves to be spoiled!
