The only concrete difference I've seen personally from using the pre-checkin is the checkin packet, bands & etc are printed and clipped together ready for you to sign card. Saves maybe 5 mins of them fiddling around at checkin. I've not seen it make a room selection difference, however I have traveled solo in the past and generally get shit room selection. This time I'm traveling as a couple, and had a thought that maybe if I fill in my room request in Spanish it might be given slightly more consideration....but I still think you get whatever key is in the top of the stack when they print the paperwork.
Just got back last night. We did the pre check in and it had our paperwork all done but you are right that it seems to make little difference on the rooms requested. They did not have anything near what we wanted originally but gave us a good selection of rooms to choose from. But we did take into account that the resort was quite full. I think near capacity for most of the time there
Average stay 10 days # of rooms 400 ( give or take) 400/10= 40 rooms become availible daily Some of those are premier Some are Ocean front + $$ Some are Jaccuzzi + $$ Some are Jaccuzii suite Ocean front +$$$ Some are 2x doubls beds Some are regular rooms. So you can see when you arrive , you get what is available in you $$ cat. The time of day will dictate what is left in your Category.,, they don't care if you booked 6 months ago or last week , its when you show up at the desk. (Unless you a member) Bribing the front desk will not make a room magically appear in sold out weeks. If you don't like your room , you can always request to change when one become availible. ( April is sold out, so pickings will be limited)
yep, last time I "left" a $20 bill in our stack of paperwork that we gave the front clerk when we checked in, and asked for an "upgrade". We got a decent room with an ocean view over near the marina, but the $20 tip came back to us.
do they let you look at 2 or 3 rooms and then decide, or they show you an area on the map to pick from?
It was our third trip so we were aware of what the rooms were and where would best suit us. The first time they showed us a couple of other rooms after we complained about our first.
thanks for you help, we dont mind the noise so we don't need to be in the quiet area, I will have to review some of the threads to see what area we would like. We will take whatever they have but being newbies we have nothing to go on so i am looking over all the info.
the 3000 block is right next too the sexy pool and has great views. but i do believe that is reserved more for RCI & members 1st.
