I know exactly what you mean.

I think the hardest thing for Sam to adapt to whenhe got diabetes was that he couldn't have pasta anymore....and he loved pasta.

I use to put a tiny bit on his food everynight and then suddenly it was gone. I'm sure he didn't understand why it was taken away from him.

Boy, did he enjoy it today!!!!

Janey is precious, Katie. So is Magik and this comes from someone who is deathly allergic to cats so they really aren't my favorite animal.

I know Sparkey had Janey before he met you so was Magik yours before Sparkey or did he adopt both of you???

Yes Sparkey has had Janey for ages. We adopted Magik this year because Janey started acting like an old cat and was rather bored. So we thought she needed campanionship and adopted Magik. Magik is more playful - they 'play' with each other, run around the house, and now Janey isn't bored and much happier.

You are right. She picked out Steve's daughter Jen as she walked by the cage at the shelter. She kept swatting Jen. We then spent time with her and decided she should come home with us. She came to us as a biter, scared to be held and patted and scared of Janey and small and skinny. Now she is much more cordial and for the first time yesterday decided to sleep on me! I felt like a proud mom!

Isn't it funny how they really do become like "kids" to us?? And I wouldn't have it any oter way.

It is so true. Since I don't have kids of my own, though I do have Steve's kids, I like mothering them. Magik also is biting less then she used to and in general becoming more like Janey. Janey is more like a dog than a cat. Will answer to her name, needs to be within a foot of you at all times and loves sleep on us whenever she can.

I'm sure Sam is like that to you. A kid and not an animal.

Sam is so not like an animal. I think he really believes he's human, LOL. Of course, treating him like that doesn't help any I guess.

I remember Sparkey telling me Janey had to be part dog the way she acts, LOL.

So Katie, how did Janey react? My cat has been an only cat for 10ish years. I'd be afraid to introduce her to another. How'd you do it? My kitty isn't acting old, she's just fat and bored & would love to bring another into the mix.

Here's a couple of pics of our kitten which we took in from flooded streets a month or so ago. He's about 3 months old now.

Dani insists on calling him Titty, which we really don't want to keep for the next 20 years or so! So his official name is Tito. Him and Dani get on fine apart from when she picks him up by his neck or tail. Dani really is a little too young for him I think but he's a lovable placid thing and no way we could leave him to a certain death the night we found him.
