what abut Krystal Cancun - right in the middle of the party center - walking distance to and from all the clubs and bars - great stretch of beach as well.

RIU Cancun is a lot nicer than Krystal and it is walking distance to night clubs as well. Krystal is cheaper of course, but i rather pay $200 extra for 8 days and stay at RIU.

I checked the rates right now and looks like RIU Cancun runs about the same as Grand Oasis, actually even cheaper. $1254 compared to $1279 for 8 days from Chicago.

I have been in and out of hotels here for over 2 yrs. I was going to keep my trap shut, but need to give my 2 cents. Of the options flying around here, I think your options should be RIU Cancun or Krystal. The Gran Oasis is not close to the Party Center, and the beach is not good. RIU has charm, a great crowd, but horrible beach. Krystal has location and beach.

I would personally skip Temp. This site has a GIANT Temp following, so your gonna get all of them saying go go.... but I feel it's geared to over 30's...and not really for singles either.

Grand Oasis/Oasis is 15min drive from the strip, but thats where all the college kids stay and party during the day! I stayed at Omni last year which is right next to Oasis and I saw the whole pool area was saturated with drunk people in their 20's. Most of them were guys though. So definitely there is a party at Grand Oasis. The taxi ride every night is not really an issue because its only 10 bucks one way, but of course it would be nice to stay on the strip. I agree with you about the Temptation.
Why you dont like the beach at Oasis?

Why Grand Oasis over RIU Cancun?

I read that RIU Caribe has a younger crowd than RIU Cancun. Is that true?

Yup... While singles aren't "shunned away" at TTR, it definitely is more of a couples oriented place, especially for a group of single guys... And I think the ratio is about right. Oasis is the place I heard to go if ALL YOU CARE ABOUT is partying... But if you care about anything other than partying, stay somewhere else.. lol

You aren't going during Spring Break, you said you were going in January so why would you choose Grand Oasis over Riu or Krystal?

Last January there were plenty of party people at Oasis, thats why i am considering it. RIU Cancun offers better service, but not sure about the crowd.
