Anyone up for heading down to Playa for a day? I'm told it is off the hook and can take a bus ride down there party it up and then get a bus back to Cancun. Anyone know if this is worthwhile?
Whether or not it is worthwhile is somewhat of a relative question. It depends on your likes and dislikes and what you are looking to do. Personally, I wouldn't catagorize Playa as "off the hook" by definition. That would apply more to Cancun. Playa is a more laid back, mature type of place. It also has more of a cosmopalitan feel to it rather than a vegas meets south beach feel. A lot of Playa regulars are from the UK and other countries across the pond....Americans don't dominate the environment there like they do in Cancun. There are clubs in Playa, but they aren't the run like an out of control frat party on steroids. If that's your type of thing, stick to Cancun. You can get to Playa on the bus or via the colectivo. If you do a simple search, you will find some explicit directions posted in several threads. Michelle
Ive been down there 2x. It is a great place, but not off the hook like cancun. but there are a ton of bars, ppl are cool and the beaches are nice too. I will most definately take another trip down there next time I go to Cancun. Its just a different atmosphere, but still a fun place to visit. I would totally suggest you do it. I have rented a jeep and driven down and its only taken me 45 mins. I would imagine its a little longer on the bus, but still well worth the trip.
Ok, that answers my question. Playa is OUT this trip I'll save it for another trip maybe when I decide to book a Cruise I'll book one with Playa as one of the destinations. This is my LAST spring break as a 20 somethin and I plan to ROCK OUT WITH MY ... OMG did I almost quote Stifler!!!! CANCUN BABY IT'S ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!! OK so I had to throw a Stifler quote in there after all.
