TRIP REPORT - MONDAY Woke up and opened the curtains to see five or six peacocks on our balcony railing! By the time I got the camera, all but one had wandered away ... I slowly and quietly opened the sliding door, and I swear to God that bird said, "PATRIOT FANS ARE PUNKS!". Started the day with some breakfast, and then, while walking to the beach we saw three monkeys playing in a tree near our room. The Iberostar Quetzal really had that jungle feel, so many animals and beautiful plants, flowers and trees. We stayed on the beach until 10:30, then we went back to our room to pack up to go to CANCUN. While waiting for our transfer, we stopped in the lobby bar for a cappucino ... This bartender was so cute and so small, that I slipped him into my suitcase and brought him home. He scrubs the floors and does the laundry, cause I sure ain't gonna do it! Our transfer arrived right on time at noon, and we were off! We have never stayed on the bayside in Cancun, so I chose the Ambiance Villas for the next few days of our trip. (that's right, I picked it! our house ain't no democracy!) I did not want an all-inclusive in Cancun. I got a really killer price on the room, too. (Thanks to STEVE!  gracias, STEVE!!!) The Ambiance Villas are condos, with 150 rooms. We had a regular room with a kitchenette, but there are also two and three bedroom condos. It is level with the street, no steep driveway or steps, so it's excellent for anyone with mobility issues. There is no elevator, but we reserved a first floor room. We arrived at the Ambiance, and our room wasn't ready. So we put our luggage in the storage room, and headed out to Kulkukan Blvd. The Ambiance is next to the Presidente Hotel. It's a very convenient walk to malls and restaurants. We went to the Deli Mart, next to the Fiesta Americana Coral Beach for lunch. We ordered guac and salsa and chips. Then chicken fajitas ... The food was very good, and we were in HEAVEN! Norb at the Deli Mart ... We were stuffed, so we walked back to the hotel, and our room was ready. Not real fancy, but clean, room 5111 ... Little kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, etc. Now you know I don't use any of that stuff, ... but I'm just reporting that it's available. Here's the best part ... YOWZA! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A MORE BEAUTIFUL BEACH ?!?!?!?! Notice the rows of empty loungers ... It was like that for the next three days! We had the pool to ourselves, and we mostly had the beach to ourselves. I've never seen a more quiet, empty hotel ... it was wonderful! We grabbed some towels, and headed to the beach ... There are two restaurants, one is open for breakfast, and the other one is open for lunch and dinner. We walked over to the restaurant for drinks. A margarita and a rum a coke ... 60 pesos ... WooHooooo ... cheap drinks! :michaelf: Here's Norb enjoying the view from the restaurant ... What a perfect afternoon! :sunny: When our tummies started to rumble, we went back to our room to shower and dress for dinner. Let's walk toward Forum By The Sea mall and decide where to eat. The Rain Forest cafe sounds good ... love those ribs! We shared ribs and chicken fingers and a couple of drinks ... Everything was so tasty! After dinner we stopped at Hagen Daaz for some vanilla pecan ice cream, yummy! Walked around the mall, then back to the Ambiance. It's been a long day. TOMORROW ... SUNSHINE, BEACH and DINNER WITH PEOPLE WE LOVE! :lotsoflove:
Nice installment, good to hear things were more to your liking. I think the beach there is probably the best there is on the bayside. My pleasure. Never one to miss a plug, just to say Janie booked the Ambiance Villas from my hotels page: Cancun Hotel Deals There are always some great deals available, just look for the "deals" icon.
Love the beach pictures. As we stay at BBG and the beach is nothing to write home about my goal for our Feb trip is to find some nice beaches. These pictures will help my cause with the rest of the group!!! Love your reports as usual...but where are the trolls?!?!?!?
I'm sorry, dahling, but the trolls didn't renew their passports in a timely fashion, so they had to stay home
