Basically, they come into take-off line-up then hold the brakes on while they crank up the engines. This might sound silly but it is the way it goes. An aeroplane needs everything that it has got to get into the sky, so cranking up the engines before letting go of the brakes and catapaulting itself down the runway is the way to go.
