LOL! This is very true...to an extent. I've had most everything pierced and love every one of them. There are two main contributing factors...1) the individuals pain tolerance and 2) the piercer. Number 2 is very important. The professional you choose to perform your piercing it critical. Do your research. DO NOT take this step lightly. Ask friends in your area or check online for reviews. Make a consultation, ask lots of questions, and check out the shop for cleanliness. Make sure they use an autoclave to sterilize their tools and the jewelry. AND make sure they take the time to walk you through the step by step process of the aftercare so that your don't end up with an infection. Choosing the right person with the proper experience, who makes you feel comfortable and helps you relax throughout the process makes all the difference in the world. Be prepared for 6-8 weeks of healing time and don't stop the aftercare process early just because it feels fine. If you take proper care of your piercing(s) in that first 6-8 weeks, you will not have any problems going forward. Also, don't "play" with your jewelry during this time; it causes irritation and/or infection. Bottom line is an experienced piercer will place the jewelry in the best possible location, dependent upon your body structure. This will be key in determining heightened sensation (where/if applicable). I can recommend someone out of San Diego CA, but doubt that helps you. Here's to the next piercing!! :daveandmo:
If she gets her nipple(s) done, I would strongly suggest also getting a nylon stud as a "place holder". C had hers done and had to take her metal stud out for a mammogram about 3 months later. Just having it out for a few hours made it hard to put the stud back in and she had to have it re-pierced. The nylon would have been okay for the mammogram. Because of some medical issues (completely unrelated), she has taken it out for good.
I have my nipples pierced and stretched to 4 gauge. I also have several genital piercings as well. I also suggest going to the experienced piercer in your area and letting them make suggestions as far as the piercing goes. Each person is different in terms of pain, healing, etc so don't let that deter you. In my experience the larger gauges don't hurt any more to get done and typically heal quicker as well as be more durable. Nipples are piercings that get played with often so having some extra size in jewelry has always proven beneficial. I typically suggest starting at least 10 gauge. I also would begin with barbells even if you like the look of a captive ring better. For initial healing the barbells are much more conducive. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have.
Friends of ours that we met at TTR were there a year or so ago and one afternoon, the wife said she was going to the lobby to look at the new silver in the jewelry shop. What she thought was a joke, he said he was heading to the beach piercing hut to get his nipples pierced. She blew him off with, "sure you are". Well needless to say when she came back, he had both of his nipples pierced and she was ready to kill him. He not only had very sore nipples (one of which was done crooked) for the remain trip but he also ate dinner by himself for two nights. Guess if you are getting them done do it before you come to TTR or you may end up a little crooked, sore and alone...lol. Alcohol and TTR seems to help you do things you would never do at home!!!
slightly different but Hubby got his Pa done which he said hurt like hell when done. we looked for a clean tattoo parlour. he did try get out of it but i made him get it done.
My body will reject it I got my belly and after a years got infection so I just removed it. The only one I didn't get any trouble with is my eyebrow.. Not really sexy !! but I prefer that since my body is really stupid !
I have both my nipples pierced, my navel, my ears, and my nose...none of them hurt THAT much...but of course they all did hurt. I love them all, have had no problems to speak of, and I would feel incomplete without them. If you are at TTR during Aug 5-10, feel free to come up and take a peak...LOL...I'm the one with the big butterfly tattoo on my upper back
Surgical steel is great but so is bioplast or titanium. Some "body's" don't like piercings. My sister rejected her hood piercing twice before it finally worked for her. She wears titanium.
