For those of you with nostalgia for good old times, and for those just curious: AllphaRooms booking site still has pre-renovation picture of the resort! Especially interesting are the room interior views: how much more comfortable and romantic they were :-( Temptation Resort and Spa - Hotel Zone - Reviews & Bookings Scroll down to see the pictures
They look dated, and yet, very sensible, and pretty, and comfortable. Perhaps they will go back to something similar eventually as styles are pretty cyclical. Thanks for the link!
I do miss the mirrored wall. Made the room seem much larger, much easier to check your theme costumes, and doubled as a real life hi def big screen
Every time I check out of TTR, I list the shortcomings of the room in survey. I do not think they listen. From other posts, the same architect Karim Rashid does the new Temptation in Punta Cana - too bad! Expect the same "trendy" design, inconvenient and sometimes even dangerous, like the black staircase from the lobby to restaurant and pool level :-(
Those mirror wardrobes bring back nostalgia. I still remember the day when my room was renovated I wanted to have those big mirrors in my room. However, I need some help with the wall braces as they are wearing so I need to replace them, any suggestions?
Walking into a room pre-renovation can be like taking a step back in time. One feature that always stands out to me are the mirrored wardrobes. These relics of the past remind us of a simpler time. As for the wall braces, one cost-effective and durable solution for bracing a wall is using hoop iron straps. The straps provide a strong and reliable support system for walls, while also being a budget-friendly option. I used the one from scrooz.com.au and after 4 years they are still holding and doing their job.
I liked the silver apples... While a "renovation" WAS needed, as the building itself was trying to fall apart in a few places and infrastructure (right word?) stuff needed a serious upgrade to newer materials (plumbing, wiring, etc), the rooms themselves were very cool. I didn't care that they were "dated." The reno "un-dated" them and now they're sort of ... sucky... As we all know, TTR isn't about the rooms though.
I think the overall theme of this thread is we miss the floor to ceiling mirrors in the rooms! I like the style of the renovation, just wish the mirrors were apart of it!
