So my wife and I are booked to travel to Cancun: Arriving Saturday morning, 10/25 and leaving 10/29. We are booked for Dreams Cancun but are considering changing our travel arrangements to Temptations instead. We went to this Alpharooms site, but it does not look to be in English. How come they don't take reservations in English?

Also, anyone here been to both resorts to tell me the pros and cons with both? Please get back to me - need to make some decisions here.

Is the food at Temptations good? Is the beach REALLY that bad, as I've read in many articles? Is there a beach nearby that would be better? Obviously if I go to Cancun I want to get to a nice beach that is swimmable. Let me know!!!

You are comparing apples to oranges, with these resorts being so different. Quite a bit of difference between TTR and a 71 acre resort.

I have never had any problems with alpharooms not being in English, and you may want to try it again.

IMO, the breakfast, lunch, and the specialty restaurants are exceptional.

The beach is nothing to brag about. Nice to spend time on a lounger, but very poor for swimming. The beaches on Isla Majeres are very nice.

Based on what your saying I'd say Dreams is more of what you got in your mind as a perfect resort in Cancun.

Two resorts are quite different that your asking about. From an ammenities/grounds of the resort stand point I think you'd be disappointed with Temptations compared to Dreams. But for a fun upbeat vacation that will guarntee you that you'll meet alot of great people and just plain have fun for a week, then Temptations is the way to go.

The guys above got it, the resorts are very different.

As for the alpharooms glitch they do have foreign language versions but you have to select them, maybe you clicked something by mistake. In any case the link below will take you directly to the Temptation Resort page in English.

Darcy and I have stayed at both:

Dreams: Slightly nicer rooms. Much better service - champagne brought to hot tub, etc. Way more uptight crowd, less friendly people, kids. Closer to clubs if you want to walk instead of taking a cab.

Temptations: Very fun people. Very open environment for being and acting sexy. no kids. Topless in pool is normal. Very sexy attire for dinner/restaurants is normal.

Apples and Oranges. We liked them both, it depends if you want romantic/stuffy or sexy/fun.

I went to Dreams in May and Temptation in September. Here are some thoughts about both.

Dreams has better food all around, from the buffet to the specialty restaurants and awesome free room service. Also, you can eat at any restaurant whenever you want , with no reservations.

The alcohol is top shelf at Dreams. The alcohol at Temptation is off a shelf near the middle, but it does the trick! Dreams has bottled water everywhere and stocks your room fridge with bottled corona, coke, diet coke and water every day included. Temptation gives you 2 cans of beer and 2 cans of coke,NO water...But you can get your own fill your fridge.

Both resorts are older and the room that I stayed in at Dreams was on the ocean, but it was very plain. I'd say the new room at Temptation was better, less the view. Dreams property is bigger and has 2 beaches, one with waves and one thats on the bay side and calm. Dreams also has a dolphins you can swim with(for $150US for 1 hour) You don't have to be staying at Dreams to swim with the dolphins, any one can do it.

Dreams has kids and I would think that since school is in, the ages will be under 5. Temptation has kids 21 and up!

Dreams has towels every where. You can take as many as you want. temptation gives you 1 towel and if you lose it, it's $25...Totally lame in my opinion...

Service at the restaurants and around the Dreams property was a 10. It was just as fast for me to get a drink from the waiter at the side of the pool, than to swim over to the pool bar! Temptation has almost as good service now that it has waitresses around the pool.

The bartenders at Temptation kick ASS!! They win, hands down...

The atmosphere at Temptation is fun and lively and adult oriented. Dreams is fun, but it's pg at best and there's not much to do at night(although, it's within walking distance of most of the clubs).

I'd stay at Temptation if you're a partier and want to have some crazy fun and meet cool people. If you want a relaxing vacation, with quality dining and don't mind kids, try Dreams.

Hope that helps. Also check out tripadvisor.com for the latest reviews.
    Good luck,
    DougEfresh

    RE: Alpharooms

I clicked on the link. The type is in English, but when I go to pay it looks like it is in pounds or some foreign currency and I am hesitant to pay if it is not in American Dollars.

*Steve - what is the nightly rate for Temptations? Dates = 10/25-10/29. I'm assuming that rate is all inclusive, too, but please confirm.

Also, what is the dress code at the restaurants???

    Re: RE: Alpharooms

I am not sure where you are located, but i was told by alpharooms a while back that you can NOT book your airfare through them if you are located in the United States. You can book your room (wich is still going to be quite a bit cheaper through alpharooms then through traditional methods) then book your airfare seperate. So if you click on the just the hotels button on alpharooms, you should be able to click on the currency and go from there.
Hope that helps, I had the same problem earlier in the year .

You have to change the currency field from GBP to USD and then you will get the quote in USD.
