Last year we forgot to pre order our bills and got stuck with lots of 100peso Bill's from our exchange place here so we were exchanging for 20s each day at the resort. They were ok exchanging about 200 worth at a time. A couple times we had to come back a bit later in the day as they disnt have enough smaller bills.
Another thing to keep in mind is damaged foreign currency is difficult for them to exchange. So when or if you use USD please ensure it is good condition.
The best exchange rate for me is using the atm in Mexico. I use Bank Of America for my peso withdrawals in Mexico, and they don’t charge me a fee for withdrawing, nor do they charge a fee for the currency exchange. I get the market rate. It’s a business account though, so IDK if that makes a difference.
