There is a new law that went in to effect last month that will only allow you to spend up to $100 us per transaction and tourist can only exchange 1500$ a month. Many place are not taking dollars at all due to the difficulty in exchange them. According to USA Today. So everyone may want to get use to using pesos.

Yup my boyfriend always has a hundred in singles to bring down. I just go to the bank about half a dozen times to keep trading big bills down to ones.

    dollars or peso

I have always brought dollars, but this time have ordered peso just to be on the safe side, I tend to tip 5 dollars per evening bar session, more for a big session lol.. easier than per drink.. and tip the restaurant 5 dollars per meal, the maids per week.. and in the daytime dont usually have money round the pool so tended to tip big once for the week..atm use is ok ..but a couple of years ago a machine swallowed my card for no reason.. so made me a bit wary lol.. tend to use card for shopping trips lol..

Drat! I got all pesos, but I believe that Steve would rather American for payment for the booze cruise and other off-site activities and perhaps for tipping? Is that correct?

We bring $200 in USD ones for tips ($100/week) and the rest of our money is also USD. Never had a problem spending them. We do our best to use up all of our pesos before returning back home.
