After two years in my new status I could apply for citizenship, using provisions in Mexican Law similar to the ones I used to apply for P.R. to accelerate the process of obtaining citizenship. For a more typical schedule, and without looking it up again, I seem to recall things like- five years of P.R. to qualify for citizenship, or two years if married to a Mexican or having a Mexican child.... I had one year in FM2 when I applied for P.R. using the point system so, no, you don“t have to have four years. Those who can meet the tests for financial solvency can apply for P.R. with zero years in temporary residency, as another example.... __________________
I wonder, if the permission to work would also apply, if the change is from fm 3 rentista to permanent.
V, PR - Puerto Rico is all I know about PR. But you are an American and don't get to be a citizen or PR. What am I missing here?
funny, i was reading puerto rico too. and then reread as puerto rico. then dawned on me third or fourth time pr must be permanent resident.

I don't think Steve has said if he's gotten his back, yet: he applied just about four months ago, as I recall, so he may have some news on that front. ____________________
